Mornings are just better after wins. Last night, Kentucky beat Georgia 69-49, giving the Big Blue Nation a rare 20-point romp in which the announcers get so bored they talked about what they ate for breakfast. Speaking of, does anyone think Laura Rutledge really finished that huge biscuit?

We’ve discussed the game a lot, but let’s do it some more before we move on with our day.

Ashton Hagans brought the joy back to Kentucky Basketball

It’s been a roller coaster season so far, but few things have made me happier than watching Ashton Hagans come into his own. After scoring in single figures in his first eleven games as a Wildcat, Hagans has scored in double figures in the last five, averaging 15.8 points, 4.4 assists and 3.6 steals in that span. In front of a hostile crowd, the Georgia native and former Bulldogs commit finished with a game- and career-high 23 points, a career-high five rebounds, a game-high-tying four assists and a game-high four steals, all while Georgia students chanted “traitor” at him from the crowd. As he told ESPN afterwards, he’s built for this.

Ashton Hagans on his big homecoming: “I had to try to put on a show”

The reception Hagans got from his teammates and family afterwards is awesome:

Solid contributions from the bench

Ashton was obviously the star of the game, but shoutout to Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery, and Jemarl Baker, who all stepped up while many of the starters struggled. Nick tied a career-high with three blocks, giving the Cats the rim protection they so desperately need, Baker filled the void left by a scoreless Keldon Johnson, and EJ had his most points (six) since the UNC Greensboro game back on December 1. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on with Keldon and Reid, but it’s nice to see that Kentucky can cruise to a win without them.

John Calipari’s radio show returns

Because the team was en route to Athens on Monday, Calipari’s radio show was moved to tonight, so tune in to 630 WLAP at 6 p.m. to hear what he has to say about the win and Saturday’s showdown at Auburn.

Speaking of radio…

Get well soon, Mike Pratt

The former Cat and UK Sports Network color commentator had surgery yesterday morning, which is why you heard Tony Delk on last night’s broadcast. Pratt should be back on the call next week, so Delk will fill in again Saturday at Auburn. We’re hearing Pratt’s doing well, and send him our best wishes for a full recovery.

If you didn’t see it make its way around the internet last night, this pass by North Carolina’s Seventh Woods vs. Notre Dame last night is truly something:

Finally, I’ll leave you with a picture of an Uber driver in Louisville you’ll want to avoid.
