Good morning, Big Blue Nation! Happy Friday!
We’re glad you’re here with us to close out the long week and look forward to the weekend.
Let’s take a look at what’s happening around the Bluegrass:
DeMarcus Cousins is back tonight
For the first time since his devastating Achilles tear suffered back on January 26, 2018, former Kentucky center DeMarcus Cousins is BACK.
Boogie is expected to make his season debut for the Golden State Warriors in their matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN this evening.
In an exclusive interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols aired last night, Cousins says being away from the game so long was like getting his favorite toy taken away from him as a child.
“It’s almost like a punishment for me, like when you’re a kid and you get your favorite toy taken away from you for a certain amount of time,” he said. “When you get it back, it’s like you love it even more.”
Now, though, he’s ready to be part of “the most hated team in sports.”
“We’re the most hated team in sports,” he said. “I would say the Warriors are for sure. They hate Kevin (Durant), they hate me. The only guy they really like is Steph (Curry), and they may hate him as well. They hate Draymond (Green). But, I mean, it is what it is. I can’t worry about that.”
It should be a fun night.
Josh Allen debuted at No. 2 on Mel Kiper’s first 2019 NFL Mock Draft
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper, arguably the best in the business when it comes to draft coverage, released his very first 2019 NFL Mock Draft yesterday and former Kentucky star Josh Allen is projected to go No. 2 overall to the San Francisco 49ers.
His reasoning? the Niners are in search of star talent in the front-seven, and outside of Ohio State’s Nick Bosa, no one else in the entire draft has the pass-rushing potential Allen has.
“If you’re talking about pure pass-rushing ability, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Allen is right up there with Bosa,” he said.
Mighty high praise for the former Wildcat, who just may find himself in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft this spring.
Kentucky women’s basketball defeats LSU on the road
Despite having two star players in Rhyne Howard and Taylor Murray out due to injury, Matthew Mitchell and the Kentucky Wildcats headed down to Baton Rouge to knock off LSU in an impressive 64-60 victory.
Without their two leading scorers, the Cats found a way to jump ahead to take a 21-5 lead in the 1st quarter. From there, the Tigers clawed back to eventually take a 56-54 lead with 5:06 remaining. The Cats then responded 5-0 run of their own to regain the lead, followed by a dagger three-pointer by KeKe McKinney with 20 seconds left to seal the victory.
Senior guard Maci Morris, who finished with 20 points on 7-12 shooting, also moved up to No. 9 on UK’s all-time scoring list with 1,415 career points, passing Sarah Elliott (2005-08).
The Cats will take on Missouri next Thursday.
John Calipari and players will speak to the media
Kentucky head coach John Calipari will address the media this afternoon to preview his team’s road matchup at Auburn on Saturday evening. A few players will also be there to give their take on the 13-3 Tigers.
I’ll be there and will be back later this afternoon to give you all the latest updates on what we learn.
Excite Night for UK Gymnastics
Looking for something to do this evening? Head on out to Rupp Arena for Excite Night!
Your No. 16 Kentucky gymnastics squad is set to take on No. 14 Arkansas at 6:00 p.m. ET for their very first home meet of the season.
The Cats began the season with a 195.975-192.600 victory over Texas Woman’s, led by four event wins from senior Alex Hyland.
We’ll see you there tonight.
Ja Morant does it again
For the second week in a row, Murray State superstar Ja Morant went viral for throwing down an absolutely disgusting slam in the middle of a game.

This comes just a week after his last ridiculous slam that also ended up going viral:

Averaging 23.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per contest this season as a sophomore, the 6-foot-3 Racer guard is moving up the draft boards in a hurry, with most analysts believing Morant will end up as a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
This guy is a stud.
