We’re getting an early start today because in 30 minutes, the KHSAA will convene to discuss the future of high school sports in Kentucky.
A meeting of the Board of Control begins at 8:30 a.m. in Covington to decide on a game plan for fall sports like football, cross country, field hockey, golf, soccer, and volleyball. Earlier this week, commissioner Julian Tackett said the KHSAA hopes to move forward with those sports, but with coronavirus cases once again rising in the Commonwealth, there’s a lot to figure out, namely the guidelines for limited practice, which expire on Sunday.
The meeting will be streamed live on YouTube so you can follow along. If you’ve got other things to do, we’ll bring you the news as it happens.
Speaking of big news in the state, yesterday, Governor Beshear announced that beginning at 5 p.m. today, Kentuckians will be required to wear a mask in public. There are exceptions, a complete list of which you can read at the link below:

ICYMI, there were some big developments in college football yesterday
Thursday afternoon, the Big Ten dropped a bombshell on the college football world, announcing it will only play conference games in the 2020 season — IF the season happens at all. The ACC and PAC-12 are expected to follow suit, and on Monday, SEC athletic directors will meet to discuss the conference’s plan for fall sports. A final decision isn’t expected from the meeting, but an All-SEC season will definitely be on the agenda. What would that look like for Kentucky? Nick Roush broke it down for you.
What about college basketball? For now, the NCAA VP of Basketball Dan Gavitt is confident the season will begin on schedule. I’m glad someone is.
