Today is going to be a good day because horses will once again be running at Keeneland.
The track’s five-day, spectator-free Summer Meet begins today with nine races. First post is at 1:05 p.m. and you can watch live on TVG or on Keeneland’s YouTube page. Today’s races aren’t nearly as exciting as the weekend’s slate, which includes the Maker’s Mark Mile, the Bluegrass Stakes, and the Ashland Stakes, but if you’re looking to scratch that horse-racing itch, it’ll do. Even better, make your Hump Day extra special and throw a Keeneland party at home with the help of Drew Franklin. Just be careful with those Keeneland Breezes. Or don’t. It’s not like you have a ton of other stuff going on, probably.
Here’s what else is happening today…
The Ivy League will vote on fall sports
The Ivy League is expected to become the first Division I conference to push fall sports, including college football, to the spring today. What does that mean for the SEC and the rest of the Power 5 conferences? Considering the Ivy League was the first conference to cancel its basketball tournament at the start of the outbreak, some foresee the decision having a domino effect, but not so fast, says 247 Sports’ Brandon Marcello:
What if I told you … whatever the Ivy League announces Wednesday (moving football to spring) has no effect on what the Power 5 decides later this month/August?
Admins in Power 5 offices tell me they're not following their lead. They have own timeline to make decisions.
