Today on KSR: Keeneland’s Summer Meet begins

Today is going to be a good day because horses will once again be running at Keeneland.

The track’s five-day, spectator-free Summer Meet begins today with nine races. First post is at 1:05 p.m. and you can watch live on TVG or on Keeneland’s YouTube page. Today’s races aren’t nearly as exciting as the weekend’s slate, which includes the Maker’s Mark Mile, the Bluegrass Stakes, and the Ashland Stakes, but if you’re looking to scratch that horse-racing itch, it’ll do. Even better, make your Hump Day extra special and throw a Keeneland party at home with the help of Drew Franklin. Just be careful with those Keeneland Breezes. Or don’t. It’s not like you have a ton of other stuff going on, probably.

Here’s what else is happening today…

The Ivy League will vote on fall sports

The Ivy League is expected to become the first Division I conference to push fall sports, including college football, to the spring today. What does that mean for the SEC and the rest of the Power 5 conferences? Considering the Ivy League was the first conference to cancel its basketball tournament at the start of the outbreak, some foresee the decision having a domino effect, but not so fast, says 247 Sports’ Brandon Marcello:

We’ll bring you the news when it drops.

The Super 16 of TBT rolls on

The Basketball Tournament, aka TBT, is now in the “Super 16” phase, with Sideline Cancer and Boeheim’s Army both advancing to the quarterfinals yesterday. Today, reigning champs Carmen’s Crew, the Ohio State squad, will be in action. The team is coached by Jared Sullinger and includes Aaron Craft, William Buford, and Deshaun Thomas, all part of the squad that lost to the Cats in Newark in the 2011 Sweet 16. In the game prior, you can cheer against former Louisville Cardinal Ryan McMahon, who is suiting up for Red Scare, the Dayton squad.

Here’s the schedule and updated bracket:

  • (8) Red Scare vs. (22) Sideline Cancer 2 p.m., ESPN
  • (1) Carmen’s Crew vs. (16) House of ‘Paign 4 p.m., ESPN
