Today on KSR: It’s time for the Spring Game

Rise and shine, BBN. Happy Friday!

We’ve got a busy day ahead in the world of UK Athletics, including action in football, basketball, and baseball this afternoon. In fact, one event in particular is taking place right this second.

Let’s catch you up on everything you need to know:

Spring Game

With college basketball season officially over, how about some Kentucky football to lift your spirits?

This evening, your Wildcats will take the field for their annual Blue-White Scrimmage, giving fans an opportunity to see the upcoming 2019 team for the very first time.

Kentucky linebacker Kash Daniel said he will not be participating, but fans will still have the opportunity to check out the likes of Terry Wilson, Lynn Bowden, AJ Rose, Chris Oats, and Josh Paschal, among others.

The game will kick off this evening at 6:00 p.m. ET at Kroger Field. If you can’t be there in person, the SEC Network will also be airing the game live.

KSBar and Grille will also have pre and postgame specials for fans to enjoy.

The Nike Hoop Summit is set for this evening

Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET, future Wildcat guard Tyrese Maxey will take the floor in the annual Nike Hoop Summit for Team USA.

There, Maxey, along with several other elite prospects in the class of 2019, will take on the World Team in Portland, Oregon.

Outside of Maxey, Kentucky targets Matthew Hurt (USA) and N’Faly Dante (World) will also be participating. Hurt is considered a consensus top-ten 2019 prospect, while Dante is a potential 2020 reclassification option.

KSR’s Aaron Torres has his feet on the ground in Portland to provide all the coverage you need from the event.

In fact, Aaron already wrote about how excited Maxey is to team up with Ashton Hagans next season:

He’ll have plenty more throughout the day.

The 2012 National Championship team is back in town

As we speak, former Kentucky Wildcats Marquis Teague, Darius Miller, Jarrod Polson, Jon Hood, Twany Beckham, and Sam Malone are all signing Maker’s Mark bottles at Keeneland.

Here was the team getting ready for the event last night:

As of right now, the line is still wrapped around the Entertainment Center at Keeneland.

While Teague, Miller, Polson, Hood, Beckham, and Malone are all at the signing this morning, head coach John Calipari is not.

Coach Cal tweeted early this morning that he got stuck in Chicago and was not able to return to Lexington in time to attend the signing.

Instead, he will hold a separate bottle signing at a later date.

Here is the group of former Wildcats signing away:

John Calipari visits a 2020 five star

The reason Calipari was unable to attend the signing this morning is because he was out recruiting for the class of 2020.

Last night, Jake Weingarten of reported Calipari was in to see consensus top-five prospect Jalen Johnson.

Johnson, a Milwaukee, WI native, holds offers from Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, and UCLA, among several others.

Standing at 6-foot-8, Johnson is considered the No. 3 prospect in the class of 2020 and the No. 1 small forward overall.

Check out some of his most recent highlights:

Kentucky baseball heads to Oxford

Coming off a victory over Lipscomb on Wednesday, the Kentucky baseball team will take on the Ole Miss Rebels this evening at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Sitting at 18-15 overall and just 2-10 in conference play, the Wildcats could use some momentum right about now.

Brent Wainscott will be back this evening with a recap of how the Bat Cats performed down in Oxford.

KSR in an hour

Former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen will co-host KSR this morning with Ryan Lemond, Drew Franklin, and Shannon the Dude.

As usual, things will get rolling at 10:00 a.m. and last through noon.

We’ll see you then.
