Good morning, friends, and happy Memorial Day. To most, this holiday means an extra day off work, sitting in a body of water, and grilling, but it’s really a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. To the families and friends of the veterans who died serving our country, our thoughts are with you. We are forever grateful for the freedom they fought so hard to protect.
Holidays don’t exist here at KSR, so we’ll be with you throughout the day to talk about the latest happenings in the world of UK Sports. Let’s get to it.
It’s decision week for EJ Montgomery, Nick Richards, and Kerry Blackshear
The deadline for underclassmen to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return to school is Wednesday at 11:59 p.m., meaning we’ve got about 63 hours until we know for sure whether or not EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards will be Wildcats next season. Virginia Tech big man Kerry Blackshear Jr. is also mulling a jump to the NBA, but even if he decides to return to college, it could be longer until we’ll know if he’s coming to Kentucky.
What will they do? Tony Delk worked out with EJ last week and said he believes the rising sophomore will stay in the draft, which suggests he’s received good feedback from the teams he’s worked out with so far. Tomorrow, EJ will participate in a Pro Day in Santa Monica, California with several GMs in attendance. Even though he’s not projected to be picked in any of the major mock drafts, a team with a second round selection could still promise to take a chance on him.
While EJ’s decision remains in flux, it continues to look like Nick Richards will return for a junior season and no one seems to know what Kerry Blackshear will do. Each decision will have a huge impact on next year’s roster, so be sure to refresh the site and keep your notifications on while you’re out and about or watching Bravo’s Below Deck Med marathon (new season starts June 3!). Cross your fingers for some Bam Bam Firepower.
One week until the players are back on campus
Next year’s roster may still be up in the air, but in just one week, your University of Kentucky Wildcats will be back on campus to begin the summer session. Tyrese Maxey can’t wait:

Ryan goes back to KSJail
After a weekend at the beach, it’s back to KSJail for Ryan Lemond, who will finish his Putt 4 Prison sentence this week. If you’d like to come see him, he’ll be there tonight through Thursday morning. If you’re lucky, he’ll still be wearing this hat:

If you missed it last week, stop what you’re doing and watch Hey Kentucky‘s hilarious feature on Ryan’s time behind bars. I’m still laughing.
By the way, Ryan’s Go Fund Me is approaching $21,000. If you’d like to donate to CASA of Lexington, SCORE International, and the Epilepsy Foundation, you can still do so by clicking here.
