Everyone is getting swole this summer on Kentucky’s campus. On the basketball court we saw a shredded version of Ashton Hagans. On the south side of campus, the Kentucky football team is putting in work.
Pictured above is Nik Ognenovic, a freshman tight end who has only been on campus a couple weeks. That’s what he looks like after less than a month of lifting. Jesus. He still has some work to do to catch up to Kash Daniel, one of many who trained in the sand this week.

Josh Paschal is returning to form following his fight with cancer, which was recently profiled by Athlon Sports. For those counting at home, Paschal has a minimum of 450 pounds on his back. That’s a lot.
Now I’m feeling bleak and hopeless as I sit on my couch blogging away this morning. I’ll get back to the gains one day, but today it’s a lot of typing. Here’s what lies ahead today on KSR.
One of Kentucky’s top linebacker targets shared a cryptic Tweet Friday (and he wasn’t the only one). Romello Height said, “Making my decision a lil earlier than I thought! Stay Tuned!” Ranked by 247 as a top 25 outside linebacker in the country, the lengthy Georgia pass rusher officially visited in June. Miami and Georgia Tech are the Cats’ top competition, but UK appears to be in the driver’s seat.
Meanwhile, Kalil Branham’s thank you tour finally made it to Kentucky. As the four-star wide receiver reminisced on his time officially visiting in Lexington, he gave KSBar a shout out. A new motto I’m pitching to the big wigs, “Wings so good, you’ll wanna play Yahtzee!”
Thank you UK. shocked people knew who I was when I was there. Watching the derby at jeff Rudy’s (best steak) and seeing the jockey cheat was fun & seeing peps come back & grad. My brother is still talking about ksr crispy wings. Very tasty. Big honor to these 4. Took courage pic.twitter.com/pBEluL5dZV

The U.S. Women’s National Team took down France on their home turf to advance to the World Cup semifinals. Megan Rapinoe ripped in a pair of goals, including one burner off a set piece, to propel the Americans to a 2-1 win.
The crowd at KSBar was crazy. It’s only going to get better from here. The Lexington chapter of the American Outlaws is looking for a drummer to lead the fans’ cheers for Tuesday’s semifinal match. If you can help and wanna have a good time, get in contact with the crew.
On a semi-related note, this Wayne Rooney MLS goal from earlier this week is confounding. How did he know the net would be empty and does someone consistently practice 70-yarders to make it look this easy?
HOLY CRAP. WAYNE ROONEY WITH A WOLF BLITZER OF A STRIKE FROM INSIDE HIS OWN HALF ??? pic.twitter.com/p5BkfnIQXo

The Kawhi Leonard free agency tour will tip-off this week in L.A. He’s meeting with the Lakers, Clippers and Raptors. The Lakers’ meeting will just be between Magic Johnson and Jeanie Buss. It was unfathomable a few weeks ago, but this league.
NBA free agency will carry the sports conversation for the next weeks during the slowest month in sports. The mothership’s coverage is headlined by an extended, live edition of Rachel Nichols’ The Jump. Behind-the-scenes KSR’s Maggie Davis is ensuring the production goes off seamlessly. We couldn’t be more proud.
Last Chance U Coach Indicted
The loud-mouthed jerk from the last two seasons of the Netflix documentary needs a lawyer. Jason Brown, formerly of Independence Community College fame, has been charged with ten criminal counts, including blackmail and identity theft. Who could have seen this coming?
Those are some Pipes
Typically that refers to something a plumber fixes or the byproduct of the “curls for the girls” lifestyle. The pipes I’m talking about are Whitney Houston’s. Kygo turned a previously unreleased recording of Houston singing Steve Winwood’s Higher Love into a masterpiece. I’ve listened to the song no less than 50 times over the last two days. Man, she was incredible.
Looking Back on UK Football
Since there won’t be much happening around the sports world, today I’m using the opportunity to get a little retrospective on the historic season that was. I have a feeling you’ll enjoy what I have cooked up to share throughout the day.
