The Kentucky Football team is just 20 days away from opening the 2019 season at Kroger Field against the Toledo Rockets.
On Saturday, the team held it’s first live scrimmage of fall camp, and received some mixed results from the offensive & defensive sides of the ball.
Lynn Bowden, Receivers Elevate Their Play
Following years of frustration due to a lack of consistency at the receiver position, the group is stepping up this fall as there are 4-5 guys who will receive significant playing time.
With Isaiah Epps out, Ahmad Wagner and Bryce Oliver will be expected to make significant contributions. Clevan Thomas is also having an impressive fall camp.
I’m expecting a big year from what is the most talented group of receivers to play at Kentucky in the Stoops era.
Jordan Griffin, Rest of Secondary Embracing Challenge
The defense, and the secondary in particular, struggled in Saturday’s scrimmage as Coach Stoops told reporters,“It’s a struggle with a few guys,” Stoops said. “My message to the guys after the scrimmage was to have a high sense of urgency. No wasted time, no wasted reps…What worries me is their football IQ. Understanding down and distance and that’s extremely hard from those positions.”
Cedrick Dort, Tyrell Ajian, and Yusuf Corker are all very young players, but as they continue to gain experience each of them have the talent to compete at a high level.

The Northern Trust
After three days of golf, KSR’s favorite golfer J.T. Poston is at a solid -6 under par, and sits at 24th place heading into the final round.
Unfortunately, Patrick Reed is leading the tournament at -14 under par, but there are a good 10-13 guys within 4 strokes of the leader.
Tune into CBS at 2 pm to catch the final round from Jersey City.
