Today on KSR: Cats in the Bubble

Good morning, BBN! Hope you all have been enjoying the great basketball being played down in Orlando this weekend. It’s been quite the show, and many of our former Wildcats have been major characters. Here’s a roundup of what happened this weekend a look at what’s on the horizon, starting with the NBA action.

De’Aaron Fox scores career-high

De’Aaron Fox had a career-high 39 points in his Bubble debut—the exact same amount he dropped in his dominant performance against UCLA in the Sweet 16. Watch him slice and dice his way to the rim in the highlights below:

The UK Basketball Twitter account showed Fox some love and shouted out his new hair-do.

SEC announces football plan

Earlier this week, the SEC announced its plan for football this fall. Here are the main points:

  • September 26th is the official kickoff
  • It will be a 10-game, conference only schedule
  • There will be no Governor’s Cup this season
  • Strength of schedule will be used to determine the two additional SEC games

Randall Cobb sports Texans threads on Twitter

The former Wildcat offered fans a glimpse of him in his new Houston Texans jersey on Twitter.

10 years in the league already? Time flies.

Benny Snell tries to save Two Keys

Earlier this week, Two Keys Tavern took down its signage, signaling the end of its 66-year tenure as a South Limestone hotspot. Folks took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Just when things were looking hopeless, UK’s all-time rushing leader stepped to the plate. Yesterday, Benny Snell took to Twitter with a mission: Save the Tavern.

The now Pittsburgh Steeler seemed to get a nice start, as he offered this update soon thereafter.

There’s not much more Snell could do to cement himself in Kentucky lore, but this would be the icing on the cake.

Mark Stoops officially offers scholarships

August 1st marks the beginning of a new calendar year in the recruiting world, meaning official offers can be extended to players. Yesterday was a flood of tweets from UK players recognizing the moment, led by four-star wide receiver Dekel Crowdus.

The 2021 class is a deep one for the Cats, and you can see more of their official offers here.

Last Chance U Season 5 debuted

If you’re looking for something to scratch that football itch while we wait until September 26th, check out the newest installment of Netflix’s ‘Last Chance U’. Featuring Oakland’s Laney Community College, it’s got a distinct West Coast flavor, but you still get the same successful Last Chance U recipe: heartwarming storylines, expletive-laced coaching rants, and incredible cinematic game action.

This particular season might be of specific interest to UK fans, as it features something we all witnessed last fall: a wide receiver transitioning to play QB. It’s interesting to see a little behind the scenes of what that position change looks like, and I’ve found myself imagining what it must have been like for Lynn Bowden last year.

That’s all the news you need to know to get your Sunday rolling. Go Cats!
