Good morning, everyone. How are you all doing today? That’s great to hear. Your positivity puts a smile on my face on this busy Wednesday. You always have the brightest attitude no matter the circumstances. Thank you for being a ray of light. Now let’s carpe this diem.
But first, some stuff…
Kerry Blackshear Jr. Watch, Day 71
Tuesday passed with no word from Kerry Blackshear Jr. so the wait will continue for yet another day. Blackshear Jr. entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on April 16, so we’ll label today as Day 71, but the number that really matters is seven because that is how many days it has been since Blackshear’s official visit to Kentucky. The hope was he would commit while he was on campus or soon thereafter; now it has been a full week and the confidence is wavering.
Last night, Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com tweeted, “Out of Virginia Tech they believe they’ve got a ‘really good’ shot at getting Kerry Blackshear Jr. back. This is a realistic option, the leader has changed many times, but hearing UT and VT are leaders right now.”
It’s easy to believe because the opinion around Blackshear seems to change with the weather.
The Big Blue Caravan is in Paintsville.
UK’s Big Blue Caravan is scheduled to roll up to the Paintsville Recreation Center this morning at 10 a.m. with Kash Daniel riding shotgun through his hometown. Daniel is making a special guest appearance at the Caravan’s Wednesday stop and he is bringing some of his teammates with him, including starting quarterback Terry Wilson.
If you’re in the area, get out there to join the fun and to meet some of the faces of the football program.
The Caravan will hit Owensboro tomorrow and Meade County on Friday.
Coach Cal definitely took a shot at Duke.
We don’t promote two guys and push everyone else to the curb. This is about all these kids becoming their best version. As this team succeeds, we all become our best version. BIG TEAM, BETTER ME. And yes, we trademarked that.

You can’t convince me he didn’t have Duke in mind when this tweet went out yesterday.
Confession: I watched Ashton Hagans play basketball in his underwear last night.
There I was, sitting at home, scrolling through Instagram, when EJ Montgomery went live from his account. Rarely do I ever take the bait because the live videos that come out of the Joe Craft Center almost always disappoint, but this time I opened it up to see what was going on. The first thing I saw was Ashton Hagans taking off his basketball shorts and then continuing to play one-on-one in his underwear. He was playing against Kahlil Whitney, and Johnny Juzang would rotate in and out for one of the two. I only stuck around for about a minute or two and saw three or four bricked three-pointers, and lots of yelling, so I closed the app and watched “Big Brother” instead. Those Instagram live videos are weird, man.
NO TRIVIA tonight at KSBar and Grille.
After three consecutive Wednesdays of overwhelming crowds and fun, we decided to let the KSBar trivia machine rest and recharge. Trivia will fire back up next week for a very special UK basketball-themed trivia night on TUESDAY, not Wednesday. Matt Jones will host the event with Kentucky basketball questions from the Rick Pitino era and on. Mark your calendars.
The USMNT plays Panama in the Gold Cup tonight.
We may not have trivia, but you’re more than welcome to watch tonight’s Gold Cup at KSBar and Grille with the American Outlaws. A win will put the Americans in first place in Group D.
Sign up for our Louisville golf scramble.
We’re taking the KSR Golf Scramble to GlenOaks Country Club in Louisville on Friday, August 9 and there are still spots available. If you and three others would like to field a team to compete for the grand prize, click here to get registered now. It’s going to be a fun day. Always is.
Happy Birthday, Tyler Thompson!
If you have a moment, send a tweet or leave a comment for Mrs. Tyler today on her birthday. As you all know, she’s the best, she captains KSR’s online ship, and today she turns none-of-our-business-years-old.
