Today on KSR: Back from a Long Weekend

Man, that was nice. Three days of holiday bliss. Hopefully a little rest, relaxation and rays of sunshine did the body and mind some good. The Memorial Day holiday officially marked the beginning of summer weather in the Bluegrass with hot, humid days, capped off by an afternoon thunderstorm. The more things have changed, the more they stay the same.

Do yourself a favor and smash subscribe because this week he’s loading up on episodes with some of the biggest guests in the business. Bomani Jones joins this afternoon, followed by Gregg Doyel from the Indianapolis Star and ESPN’s Ryan McGee on Thursday.

In other news from the KSR podcast world, N.C. State head basketball coach Kevin Keatts is on the latest edition of the Aaron Torres Sports Podcast.

A Big Bundesliga Match

I don’t know much about German soccer. I do know the Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are the two biggest names in the sport, akin to the Yankees and the Red Sox or the Lakers and the Celtics. Today they’ll meet on the pitch at 12:30 p.m. ET on FS1. Even if you don’t like soccer, this should quench your thirst for sports.

On this Date in History

In game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals, Larry Bird stole Isiah Thomas’ inbounds pass and found Dennis Johnson for the game-winning layup. Bird had 36 points in the 108-107 win that gave the Celtics a 3-2 lead in the series. Boston would eliminate the Pistons in seven before ultimately falling to the Showtime Lakers in the Finals.

On a more hilarious note, Carlos Martinez went yard in 1993 with a little help from Jose Canseco’s head.
