Today on KSR: Another Victory over Louisville

UK Athletics

UK Athletics

Monday was a good day to beat Louisville.

Just like their football and basketball counterparts, the UK men’s soccer team destroyed the Louisville Cardinals Monday night at the Bell. Eythor Bjorgolfsson knocked in two goals before Aimé Mabika drilled a penalty kicking the 84th minute to put an exclamation point on a 3-1 victory.

Johan Cedergren’s squad has now defeated Louisville three straight times in Lexington. Not too shabby. We’ll have more from the game later, until then, enjoy these highlights from the W.

Mark Stoops Reviews the Auburn Loss

Kentucky’s head football coach made his Monday round of media appearances following the first game of the 2020 football season, a 29-16 loss to eighth-ranked Auburn. Stoops explained what went wrong and what needs to be fixed, particularly in the wide receivers’ room. He also shared that SEC presidents are moving to eliminate the intra-conference transfer rule. For more, check out this rundown from Monday night’s call-in show.

Single-Game UK Football Tickets On Sale NOW

A limited number of single-game tickets were unleashed to the public Monday afternoon. Just like that, all of the tickets to the UK-Georgia game have been gobbled up. With prices ranging from $60-$100, act now to save your spot at Kroger Field this fall.

Much has been made about the mistakes Kentucky made at Auburn that cost the Wildcats a chance to upset a top ten team. Let’s forget about that for a moment and appreciate two incredible moments from the Big Blue Wall on the first drive of the game.

The first came on third and long. Many UK fans sighed when they saw the screen developing, until Luke Fortner absolutely de-cleated an Auburn defender. POW!

A few plays later, Drake Jackson was asked to chip a defensive lineman before taking his talents to the next level. This is more of a chunk than a chip in this chocolate chip ¡PANQUEUE!

MLB Playoffs Begin

The showdown between Matt’s Reds and Shannon’s Braves does not begin until tomorrow at noon, but the playoff baseball actually begins today with four wild card games.

  • 2:00 — Astros at Twins on ABC
  • 3:00 — White Sox at A’s on ESPN
  • 5:00 — Blue Jays at Rays on TBS
  • 7:00 — Yankees at Indians on ESPN

Tampa Bay Wins the Stanley Cup

Did you know the final game of the NHL season was played last night? Me neither. I typically invest into playoff hockey each summer by watching between a handful and a dozen games in the summer. I flipped the channel to a few games, including the marathon five overtime thriller between Tampa Bay and Columbus, but this year there were too many other sports happening for me to dial-in. Congrats to Dickie V and Michael Bennett, the only two Tampa Bay fans I know, as the Lightning bring home Lord Stanley’s Cup after defeating the Dallas Stars 2-0 in Edmonton.

World Class Content

I know many of you may have been concerned about the state of Kentucky’s football schedule while watching Mississippi State unleash offensive hell on LSU. Instead of worrying about the one game against UK, enjoy the other nine weeks of the Starkville Pirate.

Drew Franklin admitted on Monday’s KSR Football Podcast that the world’s No. 1 Starkville hater has become  a huge fan of what Leach is doing at Mississippi State.

Presidential Debate

President Donald Trump and Joe Biden will share a stage tonight. I’m sure they will be nothing but respectful and debate matters of public interest in an organized, gentlemanly fashion. Most of the channels on your TV guide will cover the debate when it begins at 9 pm ET.

YES, another day; and, another win over UL. And, wow, our team has some fancy monikers!
I’m not worried about the football team; we played a solid game, just have to stop the turnovers; and, the coaches have to have confidence in our strengths, and turn them loose.
