Tiz the Law runs away from the competition with an impressive Travers Stakes win

Tiz the Law is in championship form. The three-year-old Belmont Stakes winner survived The Graveyard of Champions by cruising to a ten-length victory in the Travers Stakes.

The longest race of Tiz the Law’s career, the horse was completely unfazed. Manny Franco didn’t have to do much work to blow by the competition. Even with Uncle Chuck’s fast early pace, Tiz the Law had no problem at all. Caracaro and Max Player’s late attempts to cover ground down the stretch were fruitless.

The next step for Tiz the Law is the Kentucky Derby, a race trainer Barclay Tagg previously won with Funny Cide in 2003. Now the question is, will Gamine try to take down the champ? Like Tiz the Law, the Bob Baffert filly completely dominated the seven-furlong race ran prior to the Travers.  Gamine’s connections have apprehensions about two-turn races but the horse racing world needs to see her unleashed against against the boys on Sept. 5.

Gamine has 0 derby points. She won’t be in the derby.
