Thursday will be a big day in Lexington, with Keeneland’s opening day for the Spring Meet (one whole day earlier than usual!) and the return of Thursday Night Live. The two popular attractions will pair for the first time for a unique kickoff.

The horses will hit the track at a special time – 3:00 p.m. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. with eight races on the opening-day card. It marks the first time in 60 years Keeneland will open the spring meet on a Thursday, and Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has proclaimed that day “Keeneland Day in the Bluegrass!” General admission costs five dollars.

Following the conclusion of the day’s races, a live band will play for Central Bank’s Thursday Night Live in the track’s scenic Paddock area. Thursday Night Live will return to its traditional downtown location the following week (April 11) and occur every Thursday through Oct. 10.

The racetrack fun doesn’t stop there – Friday is College Scholarship Day, where college students can get into the track for free and have the chance to win some serious dough.

Spring is finally here, people!
