There is News on N’Faly Dante…and It’s Good

There has been some hope that Cal can add just one last piece to the 2019-20 Kentucky Basketball roster, and that one piece might just be N’faly Dante.

Dante, a 6’10” center out of Sunrise Christain Academy in Kansas, is one of the top players in the 2020 class. There have been some rumblings that he is trying to reclassify although initial reports have made it seem as though Dante’s academic situation may not allow him to reclassify to join college basketball this year. But, a recent tweet from college basketball expert and Rivals reporter David Sisk spells good news for the Cats.

According to Rivals, there is no clear cut favorite for Dante, but the three favorites seem to be LSU, Oregon, and Kentucky. The trend seems to be heading in Kentucky’s direction though, as one of the three recruiting experts following Dante, Eric Rossi, forecasted Dante to pick the Cats yesterday afternoon. The other two experts have not updated their forecast since July 14th.

If Dante is somehow able to reclassify to pick Kentucky he will join EJ Montgomery, Nick Richards, and Nate Sestina in the frontcourt for this upcoming season. If Cal can land Dante for this season, it would be a huge get that could complete Kentucky’s frontcourt, that is currently lacking some depth.

We’ll see what Dante’s future holds soon enough, and there’s no doubt KSR’s Jack Pilgrim will have some insider notes as well. Until then, check out some of N’Faly Dante’s highlights:

I’m sure he’s offensively undeveloped, would hit a stride about February, have a bad game in the elite eight because he’s young. There’s always next year. Rinse repeat.

Just go down to your local dive bar and complain about your life there with the rest of the guys who hate life. You and a few others here have become tiresome and unwelcome with your negative BS.

GTFO of here with your negative comments. What the hell point is the point to complain about stuff in a news article? And don’t give me the freedom of speech crap… You must just have a miserable life… Quit reading the articles and go fly a kite if you just want to be negative all the time.

120+ years of basketball, 8 national championships. That’s one every 15 years. Cal has one in his 10 years. Tubby had 1 in his 10 years with lots of upper classmen. It seems 63 other teams want to win championships too. It’s not easy. Look at duke last year

We hear “good news” all the time then the next day we hear that it was all BS! Curb your expectations especially ones based on a single tweet.

Yeah you’re right – like when we heard the “good news” that BJ Boston might commit to Kentucky while on his visit – Oh wait… That happened!!!!

You must have forgot about the previous 10 times we heard good news. I’m all for good news but in the end it means nothing till they get on campus.

Haven’t forgotten but it’s recruiting – and it involves 17 & 18 year olds… Come on dude would you just rather just bury your head in the sand and not hear anything at all? Practically every school in the nation would be happy to trade places with us.

The news could also be that he is staying in 2020

He’d be a good get and I bet cal is selling him on practice with Nate ej and nick and he shouldn’t be afraid to battle those guys imo. I think it’s a good fit and he will see some game time and even if by feb he’s not the guy that’s no knock on him really bc there’s 3 upperclassmen ahead of him and league drafts on potential so it’s all good for him at uk. We are now seeing 2 yr guys and having to wait behind somebody now and being shown how to run cals system. It’s not just roll the ball out. I’m excited about next yr ,kid can be a stud and hope he signs up!

Didn’t someone kinda compare him to Nick…. athletic, long, promising (but a project). I’m not being negative, just wanting info.

At least he can catch the ball un like Richards (brick hands) I hope we do get him from this video he is better than Richards now.

If he can reclassify he could stay 2 years and still be better off than staying in high school. It would be a win win if he can pull off the reclassification.

I see him as a 2 or possibly 3 year player, not unlike Nick. He would be a huge get, and would add a new dimension to the studs we’ll be getting in 2020. Yeah, he might not be offensively developed as a freshman, but so what ??

He’s already a better all around player than Richards. Would be able to give us at least 15-20 productive minutes next season. He’s no Blackshear, but he would definitely make this team a national title contender

Funny when you have people on here that get their panties in a wad when someone says something other than a positivities post grow up snowflakes stop getting your little FEELINGS hurt.

Something tells me, dave, that all I’d have to say is “trump is terrible” and you’d lose it. Funny how the people who use that term “snowflakes” are always the ones who are easily triggered. Skepticism and even educated negativity is welcome here, what’s not is any excuse to constantly shlt in our guys, which seems to be about all you and a few others can do. Ya know, you have the right to say whatever you want, whenever you want…but you don’t have the right to be protected from the repercussions of the dumb crap you say.

I confess to not understand Dave’s point or background but Colorado’s post is full of negativity itself. As for non snowflakes, it seems to me the choice between trump or becoming Venezuela is an easy one. No one likes his tweets but he’s doing a lot for Kentucky and the economy as a whole. Unless it’s joe Biden, he will win again. As a country, he has too or we are doomed

Dante is a defensive machine but has also developed his offensive game over the summer.

He’d be a huge get for us to provide depth, but you guys are nuts to say that he’s already more developed than Nick. He’s not even more developed at this age than Nick was at that age. Stop it
