Disappointing lost on Saturday for sure, better performance than the UCLA game. I really hope we can beat the cards.

The Sunday Morning Sports Talk crew will do a great job… Just wonder how many times Mark will say the Lexington number, haha.

Even if UK rights the ship quickly, they can kiss a high seed goodbye. They have two losses that are horrible, teams that probably won’t make the NCAA tourney and maybe not even the NIT. Those games alone will likely drop us two seeds on Selection Sunday. Of course, it we don’t figure out how to handle physical play, it won’t matter anyway.

“They have two losses that are horrible, teams that probably won’t make the NCAA tourney and maybe not even the NIT”

Is this over-reaction Monday or what?

UCLA is ranked. They aren’t a “horrible team” To say they won’t even make the NIT is not only ignorant, it’s just plain stupid.

Ohio State is not a “great team” but in the same spirit, to say they won’t even make the NIT is just asinine. I don’t know if you simply don’t know what you’re talking about or are severely exaggerating… but your words are essentially just wrong.

UCLA is ranked only because they beat us. They are a bad team that will struggle to be competitive in a decent, but not great conference. Of these two teams, they have the better talent, and they have a decent shot at squeaking into the NCAAs, but it’s still iffy. Ohio State is flat-out terrible. They will have to fight to even have a winning record this season, and it’s not a stretch to say that a .500 Ohio State team would not be invited to even the NIT. So how was I exaggerating?

Dude UCLA is 7-3 and have wins against 2 top 25 teams in UK and Gonzaga. Your argument is automatically invalid.

my fault. 8-4 after this last week of games. but still. 2 wins vs top 25 teams. they’re a tournament team.

UCLA is on pace to finish at around a little over 20 wins (20-22). For a Pac-12 team, that would put them squarely on the bubble. Whether they get in would depend on how many more “good wins” or “bad losses” they have (and they already have a few really bad losses). Ohio State will struggle to get the 17-18 wins it would take to get them into the NIT.

Sentient, can you give me this week’s lottery numbers? Since you clearly know what’s going to happen in the future….

You said in comment (2.v) that they are on pace to be “on the bubble”
and you said in comment (2) that they “maybe not even [be in] the NIT”

Those are two DRASTICALLY different statements. I commented on the ignorance of the latter… I would not argue the validity of the former

I think our guys will rise to the occasion on Saturday and beat them down Duke style. I hate that Louisville already has a built in excuse with Mangok being out.

Yep, and the bird fans are already trotting out their excuses about the refs and foul calling well in advance.

“the refs and foul calling well in advance.”

they do that every year… seems to lessen the blow when they find one or two bad calls and get to go “SEE!? SEE!? I TOLD YOU THEY WOULD CHEAT US!!! DURR DURR!!! “

Talking seeds in December is nonsense.

    • ClutchCargo
      10:33 am December 21, 2015 Permalink

You also have to consider that there aren’t that many strong teams remaining on the schedule to work our way back up to a high seed. That’s the reality.

    • Cat House
      10:43 am December 21, 2015 Permalink

If the Cats take care of business, the seed will take care of itself.

    • ukjaybrat
      10:54 am December 21, 2015 Permalink

and even if we lose a few conference games, we don’t need a top 2 seed to advance. it’d be nice playing in louisville. but as has been said, the competition through louisville will likely be more stout than if we ended up playing on the west coast. I don’t care where we play, it’s going to be a home game regardless.

We are a very young team, and it is December. I don’t think we need to hit the panic button yet. Some people in our fan base need to calm the hell down. We are not going to win 38 consecutive games every season. Be reasonable. This season will be more like 2011 or 2014. We will lose some games, but I think we will pull it together for a tournament run.

People seem to get offended when UK doesn’t live up to a high ranking, when the truth is they were ranked too high to start with. That’s not their fault. Some of the voters probably like to start them too high just so they can make them fall more drastically later. I still think this team will be good when it matters.

    • ClutchCargo
      10:35 am December 21, 2015 Permalink

Agree. This team is going to have a path more similar to 2011 or 2014 than last year.

I made a vow after UK’s run in the 2014 tournament to never write them off during the regular season. That team taught us all a lesson. They looked for all intents and purposes dead and buried during the USC game. We need Tyler to make a Harrison-esque prediction for us. 🙂

Me too. Amazing how many people didn’t learn that lesson. That season ended up being SO exciting.

We had a 10 player rotation last season (including Alex who was injured early). We returned only 3 of those players. 3 out of 10. We lost 7 players, including our entire starting 5. I don’t get how people fail to understand the impact this has, especially early in the season.

Drake is so good and so comfortable on the radio, it’s ridiculous. This is a teenager, but he sounds like a seasoned pro who’s changing to media after a nice long career.

He seems to have a nasty streak on the field as well, which I like.

Also, his twitter exchanges with Kash Daniel are hilarious!
