Normally I’d try to pull a Sweetwater with the Night Post, “Don’t Float the Mainstream,” but after today’s events at Valhalla I am forced to dedicate tonight’s post to the PGA Championship.  Rory McIlroy is yearning for back-to-back Major Championships en route to becoming the #1 player in the world, but with eight players only four strokes behind, it’s anyone game.  All of the stroylines at play will put the eyes of the world on Louisville tomorrow afternoon.

The highlight of the day was Jason Day’s creek wading par save.  My parents actually witnessed the event unfold in its entirety on the 2nd-hole.  My Dad couldn’t contain his excitement over the phone, “The GREATEST save I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Here’s to a great afternoon of golf, otherwise known as the Big Blue Bahamas after-party.

Basketball is finally here

It’s been 125 days since Kentucky came just shy of a 9th National Title.  The heartbreak inspired most of the team to return, with satisfaction only supplied after a National Championship victory.  Tomorrow the Drive for Nine begins in Nassau, Bahamas at 1:00 pm on ESPNU against Puerto Rico Reserve.

Captain KSR Matt Jones will kick off coverage at 12:30 alongside Drew Franklin on 630 WLAP.  Expect plenty of hype, stories from the trip, and probably technical difficulties.

The BBN brought it for Fan Day 2014

Despite the rain, UK fans came from far and wide to spend the morning with their team.  “I was shocked,” Stoops said.  “I thought in the morning there would be less people, but we couldn’t come in here at night and didn’t want to risk it with the rain.  So with the weather and being a little cooler going inside, I thought there would be less people. But I was amazed, as usual, and greatly appreciate the support and the kind words.”

The fans’ presence had the team excited, but their play was too inconsistent for Neal Brown and Mark Stoops’ standards.  Blame the weather or the bright lights, but what I thought was a great practice was a poorly executed one in the eyes of the coaches, “We were inconsistent today. We had been cleaner than that offensively. I thought we were a little sloppy. Again too many balls on the ground.”

You can read my full report here, along with a breakdown of what I saw from the quarterbacks here.

Today’s open practice was the first of four this preseason.  You can also check them out Monday (9:30 am), Tuesday (3:30 pm) and on the 18th (9:30 am).  I HIGHLY recommend making it out, even if it’s just one practice.

You’re spine will tingle with the sound of sirens before you leave the Stadium sold on Stoops.

Avery Williamson debuted with the Titans tonight

Mrs. Tyler wasn’t going to end her football weekend with Fan Day.  After making the drive back to Nashville, she’s watching Avery and Wesley Woodyard take on Tim Masthay and “Goldeneyes” Randall Cobb’s Green Bay Packers.  The game is all tied up at half, but who really cares in the preseason anyway?

Rex Ryan flipped the script in a post-practice press conference

I’m sure Calipari would like to ask Jerry Tipton a thing or two.

It’s bedtime for me , blogging starts early on Gamedays.  *Slightly Geeks*

I went to Fan Day this morning. It was fun and exciting. I was most impressed by the long catches made by the wide receivers with defensive coverage hanging on their tails. I just wish I was using a camera to capture it.

I hope that the game is at least on replay so I can watch it, we don’t have ESPNU yet, or a sports package for that matter (thats going to change here real soon.)

Awesome shout out to Sweetwater, one of the best breweries around (including Sierra Nevada). If you get a chance, there’s a another brewer, Wild Heaven, out of Decatur, GA, which is also just outstanding. And Terrapin, from Athens is quite excellent.
