The position positions and morning line odds are set for Kentucky Derby 145.
As expected, the morning line favorite is Omaha Beach, running out of the 12-hole. A look at the entire 20-horse field:
A few noteworthy draws…
1. War of Will was creating quite a bit of buzz on the backside following his morning workouts. All that buzz will be eliminated after he drew the 1-hole. Next to him in the 2-spot is Tax, a horse with a ton of speed that could make his way to the front with a clean break.
2. The 6-7-8 trio will be a tricky group. Vekoma, Maximum Security and Tacitus had three of the more impressive prep race victories. All three came down the stretch with commanding leads and all three could replicate that Saturday, or they could burn out early trying to keep up with the other.
3. Sorry, Roadster. Bob Baffert’s Santa Anita Derby winner is the third-favorite, but he’s running out of the dreaded 17-position. The 17 horse is 0-40 all-time in the Kentucky Derby.
