The line has already moved to Louisville -2.5 -3

Welp, that didn’t take long. After opening as a pick ’em earlier this afternoon, the line for tomorrow’s game has already shifted to Louisville -2.5 -3, according to VegasInsider.com. That means a lot of people with money have some serious doubt in the Cats. It’s very rare for a line to move that far, that fast.

UK is now the underdog in Las Vegas.

No one has confidence in this team do they?

      6:39 pm December 27, 2013 Permalink

I do. I am quite rational about what I expected from this team early on. They have had some struggles, but so has UL. UL is not some amazing team! UK lost by 3 @ The Yum Center, last year with a team that had ZERO bench, barely a PG, and even less experience. This years team is deeper, is playing in Rupp, and playing against a team that does not have Gorgui Dang protecting the rim.

UL has padded it’s rebounding stats with a bunch of cream-puffs. UK out-rebounded UNC by 12. The Tar-Heels out-rebounded UL by 5. I think Hawkins will get a lot of time in this game. He will be on Russ.

Lets see, UL has played 1 good team and got beta pretty good. They have played an extremely weak schedule compared to UK, on top of being 1-4 against Cal @ UK (they beat UK by 3 last season). Cal has 3 losses at Rupp! The crowd is going to give UK the energy they need to keep up the intensity (something they have not been able to maintain all year). If UK makes a remotely respectable percentage from the line, plays with energy, and does not commit a bunch of unforced turnovers, they will win.

Louisville’s only loss to a schizophrenic UNC team isn’t as much of a red flag as UK’s loss to a Baylor team that needed OT to beat a 4-7 NW State.

I’ll be surprised if this line doesn’t move to 4 or 5 points before the game begins.

UNC has lost to some pretty crappy teams too, so I’m not alarmed that Baylor WON in OT. UK lost to Baylor in Texas and to UNC in NC, their home states. UNC didn’t need their home court to take care of the Tards. The only people caring about the moving line will be those who lose their money tomorrow when the dirty birds go down in Rupp just like they usually do.

Cal said he can’t hide them, he really can’t hide them from Vegas. UL ranked #6 we are ranked #18, even if we are playing in Rupp, this can’t be shocking.

Looks like the Tards will be going back to play in Freedom Hall. The city can’t pay for the Yummy Center and the bonds have now been downgraded to “junk”. See you back at Freedom Hall, as the Yummy Center will be auctioned off.

Maybe they should take a page from Lexington and rob eastern counties devastated by coal mining to pay for it.

Glass House….you have zero understanding of what the mining industry means to eastern Kentucky. Otherwise, you would not make such an idiotic statement. Typical of someone incapable of making an informed decision. Actually, perfectly in line with those that form opinions based on sound bites and rhetoric spewed by special interest groups.

What is UK taking from Eastern Kentucky? What are they paying for? How about UL takes its grip off of it’s ridiculous YUM lease and allow the place to actually make money, It would help the YUM pay for its junk bonds and not sattle the expense on Jefferson county taxpayers.

  9. Future of "Cum" Center
    6:58 pm December 27, 2013 Permalink

Who would buy the “Cum” Center?
And, F Hall is not in any condition to host games, not without a lot of $$$ spent.
Therefore, the Tards will be forced to redo their existing lease when the “Cum” Center goes into receivership.

I’ll take the Cats in this one by 5-10 points. Randle will have his way in the paint, Stein will protect the rim, Harrison and Young will go off also. It’s time for the Cats to grow into men and this is the game to do it. The crowd will be pumped and the players will feed off that.

I agree. If the crowd brings the energy, look for this team to bring the intensity.

Sounds like alot of cats fans are jealous that the cards play in the best arena in the US. While UK plays in a barn.

Your sir are an idiot. When people talk about college basketball arenas they talk about Rupp, Cameron Indoor, and Allen Fieldhouse…..not the fried chicken center

You have lost your mind if you believe the Cum Center is the best arena in the US.

All of the seats should be replaced now!
Apparently the dress code for a UL game is a hat turned sideways on the head and pants below the ass cheeks. Can you imagine what a health hazard? All those bare cracks rubbing against those seat covers….PEW!!!

The yum center is the nicest arena in the country. That’s just a fact..no other way to slice it. Obviously rupp and cameron are more historical but in terms of having all the bells and whistles, there’s no comparison.

Sit in the upper level at YUM, steeper than Rupp. I’ll take Freedom Hall over both to watch a game.

Since all you dbags got off topic and want to discuss arenas how about we talk about the point of the article? Bottom line is this spread is NOT good for UK. Sagarin ratings say UK should be favored by 2 yet we are a 3 pt dog on Our home court? That means this would be a 6.5 point spread on a neutral court. Not good! All the big money is on cards. I don’t like that and it doesn’t bold well for a W.

The last time I looked, a basketball game isn’t decided by who the most money was bet on. It is decided by who scores the most points.

The game will be decided on the court tomorrow afternoon. Why do you care what the spread is, unless of course you have a chronic gambling problem? If that is the case, you cannot enjoy the game no matter what the spread is. Careful, Vegas was built on losers, not winners.

My point is its embarrassing to be a 3 pt dog AT HOME! This is only the second time under Cal we were a dog at home. NC two years ago was a point favorite. Also worth noting it takes approx 500,000 bucks to move a line 1/2 point… that means that professional gamblers, winners not losers, have serious money on the Cards and all I’m staying is that is not a good sign because those type of gamblers win more than theyose. The spread will work its way down because Vegas wants 50/50 money on each side. I just don’t feel good that the heavy hitters jumped so quick and so hard on the cards. Not a good sign as I stated and as this article states. Fiftino has to be licking his chops to steal a win from Cal in Rupp…
