The latest on Class of 2018 superstar R.J. Barrett

R.J. Barrett is down to three schools.

And Kentucky is one of them.

Barrett, the No. 1 overall player in high school basketball, will only consider Duke, Oregon and Kentucky as he winds down his recruitment prior to the start of his senior year. Arizona was eliminated from consideration following its ties to the FBI scandal; while Michigan, which was set to host Barrett on a visit this coming weekend, was also cut from the list.

Duke’s Mike Krysjeqwqskiswsty and Jeff Capel were in to see Barrett on Wednesday and some believe the visit had a major impact on the three-team race.’s Evan Daniels made his Crystal Ball pick for Duke late Wednesday night, giving the Blue Devils the lead in the Crystal Ball predictions.

There is some chatter that Barrett could announce his final decision very, very soon; and if it’s too soon, it may not be good for the Wildcats.

Please just not duke for this kid.. the potential combo of him and cam reddish at duke would give coach k a hell of a team. Rj and Zion would be a lethal duo if cal can make it happen.

If K gets another elite recruit. Wtf is going on?

He tells his recruits that since he is in fact a vampire, he does not appear on any FBI surveillance video, so he can pass money to them with immunity.

The FBI would like a word……

I don’t get it. His players really don’t excel in the NBA….and these kids didn’t notice Bolden sitting on the bench all last year looking like somebody stole his twinkie.

Since Barnett is Canadian, I wonder if the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have any videos on Coach K?

😂 love the spelling Drew (his last name is such a fiasco, no one even notices)

I have always referred to him as “Coach Buy-A-Vowel”.

What was it before he shortened it?

Now Pitino can be referred to as “Coach Buy-A-Player.”

I hope this kid comes to UK but I’m of the belief that we roll with who comes here and the rest are irrelevant…

Couldn’t agree more. We play who we can sign and don’t worry about the misses. Believe we did just fine without Newman/Zimmerman/Bolden, etc……Tyler Ulis turned out to be an OK player if memory serves me correct….

In the end I believe kids go where they belong. Bagley going to Duke proved that he wouldn’t have fit in at UK. Same for Barrett if he picks Duke. What I don’t like is that once again UK can’t land the #1 player in a class.

Well, his first official visit was to UK, and he’s close to Jamal Murray who is from the same area in Canada, and UK is closest to home. Oddly enough, Oregon feels pretty good about him, just like they did with Murray.
If he goes to Dook…that is a nightmare.

If UK can land either Barrett or ZW, and maybe 1 or 2 other of the top 10 recruits commonly mentioned, along with who we will have coming back….we should be loaded. But I would LOVE to sweep the leg (Dukes leg) and get both RJ & ZW. UK needs a HUGE statement like that in recruiting.

Welcome to the modern UK basketball fan complaint. As soon as a kid starts to pick up steam elsewhere or actually commits elsewhere, “We didn’t want him anyways” or “ He wasn’t made for Kentucky.” Come on guys, there are hundreds of schools out there to choose from. Cal only uses 11-12 scholarships. If the “In Cal I Trust” lingo isn’t set in stone I don’t know what is. dUKe and Louisville are recruiting better than ever because of Cal and Kentucky; and you see where that got the Cards. CATS

The question is a legitimate one…Until the last 4 or 5 years, Cal was dominating everyone in recruiting, including Coach K. All of a sudden, K starts hitting these one and done kids hard and getting them, instead of Cal. I know recruiting is cyclical, but it just seems odd to me that, while Cal is still getting more than his fair share, Coach K is getting a ton of top 5-10 guys, where he wasn’t getting them a few years ago. I wonder what has changed there.

Did K hire some new hotshot assistant in the last couple of years who knows a certain financial planner? 😉

Coach K didn’t recruit one-and-done’s very much for a while because he thought he was too good for that. Once Cal was doing it and winning though, then he changed his tune. K also hired Jeff Caple in the last few years, and he is supposed to be a good recruiter.

Plus he tells them what they want to hear…that and he’s got the whole ridiculous “Coaching God of basketball” thing going that I’m sure he just loves.
