Even though Kentucky didn’t get the win, today was an amazing day for baseball in the Bluegrass. In the middle of a work day 6,235 people attended a college baseball game in Kentucky.
“I’m glad we could help with that,” Nick Mingione said with a chuckle about Jim Patterson Stadium’s new attendance record.
The first Super Regional game received the national spotlight, highlighted in the postgame media room. Aaron Fitt of D1 Baseball has been to plenty of college baseball games, but has never seen anything like this.
Honestly not sure I've ever seen so many reporters in a press conference in college baseball. All 4 rows of seats taken, standing room only pic.twitter.com/1DgMGiYqCK

“I tried to count the reporters in this UK/UofL presser, lost count at 60. Some people hiding in the back I can’t see,” Fitt Tweeted. “This is bonkers.”
It’s only going to get crazier if Kentucky can force a game three with a win tomorrow.
