The Jetsons‘s Wednesday Morning Wakeup

On this day, way back in 1962, ABC debuted The Jetsons, its first program broadcast in color. The Hanna-Barbera production was created as a space-age counterpart to The Flintsones, another Hanna-Barbera cartoon hit from the 60s.

The Jetsons lasted three seasons with 75 total episodes, but those episodes have aired a billion times on television over the years in syndication. The series would later become a movie — appropriately titled Jetsons: The Movie — in 1990. The film served as a finale to the television series.

To celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the show, I’m going to share the intro so it will be stuck in your head all day.

You’ll be hearing that hours from now.

We have another KSR Football Podcast coming your way today.

I don’t know how you all feel about them, but I really enjoy recording the football podcasts with Freddie, Jared and Nick. With all due respect to Matt and the KSR morning and pregame shows, it’s a different dynamic doing a podcast with those guys and I’ve found it to be equally fun. Not to mention, hearing Freddie and Jared talk actual football has been very educating and refreshing. That’s an area we’ve lacked since the beginning of time, admittedly.

So look for this week’s to hit the internet some time later today. We’re shooting for noon but iTunes can be stubborn. We’ll let you know. And let us know if you enjoy it.

Mark Stoops will talk on this week’s SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Stoops is set to pick up the phone a little after lunch and I will be dialed in on the other end, listening for the latest as the Cats prepare for Mizzou. A full rundown of his comments will follow around 2:00ish or so, depending how long he goes.

Shannon Dawson was very defensive after yesterday’s practice.

When asked about Dorian Baker struggling with drops, Dawson responded, “I’ve never known of a receiver that didn’t drop a pass. You guys are making way too much of that. I’m just being honest with you. I’ve never had one that didn’t. Kevin White (who Dawson coached at WVU last season) dropped balls. Guess what? He was the sixth pick overall. Have you ever made a mistake? All right, what did you do about it? Learned it, moved on, right? That’s what we’re doing. He’s going to drop another one one day guys. He makes a lot of them too.”

Dawson also took ownership of his offense’s struggles and said he told all of his players on Monday, “Point your finger at yourself. When you get done with that game on Saturday and you sit there on Sunday, look at what you could’ve done to change the game, not what somebody else could’ve done.”

Love the comments, now let’s see the improvement.

Patrick Towles deleted all social media off his phone.

No Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

“All that stuff is off my phone,” Towles said after yesterday’s practice.

You can attend a Louisville football game for what I spend on one order at Taco Bell.

A ten dollar bill will get you in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium to watch winless UofL this Saturday — or in any of its other three remaining home games this season, for that matter. And to think, Tommy Turtleneck plans to add more seats to the stadium. Mmmmkay.

John Calipari met with Harry Giles and Edrice “Bam” Adebayo last night.

Adebayo is quickly becoming a primary target for Calipari in the 2016 class, while Giles is, well, Giles. He’s a future No. 1 pick.

The Louisville obsession continues. As does the severe lack of Knowledge of simple economics.

hmmm you’re on a UK site but proclaiming they are obsessed with UofL. Classic card troll!

“obsessed” can’t even spell his own name right and also has no clue about economics while claiming Drew is the clueless one…another classic troll move. Adding more seats when you basically have to give tickets away to get people in the door makes zero sense.

      1) I’m a UK grad, which is more than can be said for 98% of the UK fanbase, who never attended college, much less UK.
      2) You honks said the same thing last time UL expanded. If you sell all of the luxury and loge seats (which they will) then expansion is paid for, the GA seats end up being the profit. ECONOMICS.
      3) When expansion is completed it is FACT that the average attendance will be higher than the current capacity, therefore additional justification for expansion.
      4) Jurichs track record with facilities speaks for itself. Not once has his vision failed to yield positive ECONOMIC results for the University.
      5) Jealousy is rampant

The economics is that they will sell them beer once they get there. And no one is jealous of UL. Who seriously wants to sit in a stadium in the middle of the ghetto with Rubbertown carcinogens wafting through the air? To go to a game, you really have to ask yourself, is this worth dying early?

Your continued poor use of spelling and grammar makes me, as a UK professional school grad, slightly ashamed. My unergraduate degree came from none other than…wait for it- UofL.

The majority of NET economic benefits for the UofL athletic department comes from the lopsided deal with the YUM! Center, a deal that is being heavily scrutinized. I have no problems with Louisville the city nor the University of Louisville itself. However I hold great disdain for the athletic department of said university.

And here we have the common case of a UL homer attending UK for college because … well UK is just more fun. I love how Card Gaytion intrudes UK instead of going to school with the other line beards. Hey Obsession, take solace in the fact that your tuition check helped to continue the massive improvement that is the University of Kentucky.

Kudos to Dawson for standing up for Baker. The kid dropped a huge catch that probably cost us a game, but he’s still very talented, and we desperately need him to stay confident if we’re going to go bowling this season. He’s probably our best talent at receiver. He’s also very young, and he’s learning. Cut the kid some slack. There is no such thing as a perfect receiver. Not one all-pro receiver in the history of the NFL has ever gone an entire season without dropping a pass.

The funny thing the futuristic Jetson’s missed was how cash would go away in the future. He hands Jane cash instead of a credit or debit card, bitcoin, chip implant that links to your account, etc.

Good point but you’re being a little nit picking since the show did correctly predict flying cars, buildings hovering in space, and passengers exiting the cars via a glass enclosed flying bubble. But they did blow the cash thing since that no longer exists.

Sad that Patrick has to turn off his social media. I guess being the qb puts him under the microscope. But, some comments we see are so out of line. Maybe some support by “fans” would be beneficial to his confidence.

You’re front-paging an article on a cartoon show and yet ignore the passing of one of the most iconic baseball players in history. If you had anyone over the age of 25 writing for you this wouldn’t occur. Here’s to the great Yogi Berra

the video is literally a video of dawson at a press conference. perhaps you should watch before forming an opinion – an opinion that has absolute zero factual backing…

I like Dawson’s leadership style. Teaching personal accountability by accepting blame. Teaching professional honesty by being honest with his players on what needs to improve. Keeping their confidence up by talking about fact that everyone drops a ball or 2. Good leadership.

I don’t think that as many fans blame the offense as they do Dawson himself. The players made a few mistakes, but Dawson’s play calling was horrible. 1st down run up the middle get 1 yard second down, run up the middle get 1 yard, third down, run up the middle get 2 yards, forth down punt. I thought I was watching Joker all over again. Unless Towles was checking into a different play, Dawson sucked against Florida… I hate to say it, but I predict a lot of empty seats in Commonwealth this Saturday. Florida was a MUST WIN, if this program is ever going to be a consistent winner.

    • CatsBy80

you predict a lot of empty seats this weekend because we lost to Florida? a team that we’ve lost to for 29 years in a row… There will be a lot of seats against EKU if we lose to Mizzou, but I expect there to be another raucous crowd this weekend. Missouri is the MUST WIN game.

  11. Mr Morals
    4:12 pm September 23, 2015 Permalink

The worst thing about the Florida loss is all the hype surrounding the game. 20+ recruits in the recruiting room saw the state of the program, just like we all did. I am a UK grad and bleed blue, but I think we all bought into the hype that we are better than we really are at this point. Matt and Ryan scold folks who had negative things to say about the game, well whose fault is it that we were all pumped as fans only to see a mediocre display from the offense and Dawson at best? Coach Stoops, presses us as fans to bring our A game and to expect to win ALL games, but that just didn’t happen Saturday. How can he expect the fans to PACK COMMONWEALTH, when the coaching staff does not hold up their end of the bargin. AGAIN, I hope I’m WRONG, but there will be a lot of empty seats this Saturday against Missou. GO BIG BLUE!!!
