The Jared Lorenzen tribute weekend at KSBar got a huge response

Thank you, thank you, thank you to anyone and everyone who made the trip to KSBar and Grille over the weekend to celebrate the life of our good friend and UK quarterback legend, Jared Lorenzen.

There was a huge turnout from Friday through Sunday evening to watch Lorenzen’s old games and to contribute to his memorial fund, whether it was by donating directly to the fund or simply by eating/drinking your contribution through the restaurant’s pledge to donate 22 percent of all sales. It will take some time before we know exactly how much was raised over the course of the weekend, but I know it is going to be a large number. Food and drink sales were similar to a home football game day weekend and the walk-in donations for the fund were constant. All of that money will be added to the $60,000+ already raised through GoFundMe, plus the proceeds from the t-shirts at Kentucky Branded and a few other means.

I was at KSBar on Friday and again on Sunday to join in on the fun and it was cool to see so many people wearing #22 jerseys and t-shirts while watching the old games. Some were even yelling at the televisions like the games were live and I didn’t have the heart to tell them things would take a turn for the worse in the final seconds against LSU or in that seventh overtime against Arkansas.

We even had special t-shirts made up for our staff, kindly produced and donated on extremely short notice by Promotional Products Plus in Lexington. P3 was clutch in getting that done.

For those interested in KSBar’s silent auction, we decided to keep it going for a few more days. There are three items — a signed jersey and two signed balls — up for bid at the front of the restaurant and we will keep that going until closing time on Wednesday, so get in there soon to place a bid. The GoFundMe is also still active online here, and even though the Lorenzen weekend party is over, donations will still be accepted in person at KSBar.

Again, thank you to everyone who pitched in. The generosity and kindness of Big Blue Nation is incredible.
