Losing, especially to teams like Auburn, still feels like a foreign country. Not the thrilling part of being in a foreign country, but the “I’ve lost my phone, I can’t understand anyone, it’s getting dark, and I’ve seen the movie ‘Hostel’ one to many times” part of being in a foreign country. Anyway.
We watched the game with a bunch of new friends in Birmingham, Alabama. I would have expected to get heckled a little from Auburn fans that we encountered, but I learned quickly that most of them don’t care about basketball.
There are a good amount of UK fans in Birmingham and they usually meet at The Hickory Tavern just outside of town. They don’t have watch parties for every game, but if you find them on Twitter or Facebook they’ll let you know when they do. Check them out if you’re in the area!
