Kentucky Derby

Today brings the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby. Post time for the race is at 6:34pm and for those that will not be at Churchill Downs, you can catch the action on NBC. For the first time in the past few years, there is no “true” favorite for the race, which is, depending on who you ask a good or a bad thing. Here is your lineup for the race:

Post Horse  Odds
1 Lookin At Lee 25-1
2 Thunder Snow 17-1
3 Fast and Accurate 32-1
4 Untrapped 58-1
5 Always Dreaming 4-1
6 State of Honor 46-1
7 Girvin 21-1
8 Hence 17-1
9 Irap 35-1
10 Gunnevera 9-1
11 Battle Of Midway 37-1
12 Sonneteer 36-1
13 J Boys Echo 43-1
14 Classic Empire 7-1
15 McCraken 6-1
16 Tapwrit 29-1
17 Irish War Cry 5-1
18 Gormley 23-1
19 Practical Joke 32-1
20 Patch 14-1

I am far from an expert on horse racing, so I would take my prediction with a grain of salt, but it is hard for me to go against picking Gormley. Not often you have a personal connection with the horse. I do have a friend who is a bit more knowledgeable and he likes Gunnevera, McCraken, and Classic Empire. If you are betting on the race, please bet responsibly!

Kentucky Oaks Results

The Kentucky Oaks ran yesterday with Abel Tasman coming from last place to win the race.

If you were lucky enough to bet the superfecta correctly, I have some college tuition that needs to be paid off…

Kentucky Graduates

Yesterday and this weekend marks the graduation for multiple UK players. We had an article yesterday with some pictures from the ceremony. You can check that out here.

Kevin Knox

usa_today_9973065.0

UK Target Kevin Knox will announce his college decision at some point this evening. It seems like every year the Cats are in for someone late who no one really knows where he will go. Florida State has come on strong as a last second favorite for Knox. Personally, I do not see Knox in Kentucky blue next year and instead will be in the ACC in some form. If I am wrong, Kentucky will be getting an elite scorer that next season’s team really does need. Calipari has mentioned that Knox will have a Malik Monk like impact if he becomes a Cat.

Baseball

Kentucky baseball fell last night to Georgia 5-3. Today, the Cats will give the ball to Zach Logue. Logue is 5-4 on the season with a 4.31 ERA. First pitch for tonight’s game is scheduled for 6:30pm at Cliff Hagen Stadium. The game will also be broadcast on 630 WLAP and on SEC Network +.

Softball

UK Softball will try to get back on the winning track today before wrapping up the season tomorrow in Starkville against Mississippi State. The Cats lost last night 6-2. The game tonight will start at 4pm.

Good Look for Mo Bamba

Mo Bamba is currently participating in the Ballislife All-American Game with Quade Green and PJ Washington. Above is a picture of Bamba with future Cats Quade Green and PJ Washington and as always read into this how you want…

On that note… the Ballislife All-American Game is tonight

The game will feature a three-point and dunk contest to start the event at 7pm. The game itself will start at 9pm. Both games will be streamed via Facebook Live. If you live in the Long Beach, California area, tickets are still on sale, so be sure to get a chance to checkout three, if not four future Cats.

Predators fall to the Blues

The Predators fell to the St. Louis Blue last night 2-1. The Preds still do lead the series 3-2, with the next game in the series on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.
