Thanksgiving Morning Notes For Those Who Aren’t Already Eating

Well hello there. What are you doing on the internet right now? You should be in the kitchen helping your mother-in-law with that sweet potato casserole. Does she know you’re browsing the web when you could be pitching in with the food prep? Shame on you.

But, since you’re here, let’s cover a few things before we try to kill ourselves with calories a little later today.

I’m shocked Kentucky played so well yesterday.

One of the most impressive aspects of yesterday’s game is how hard and energetic the entire team played in an early game on the day before Thanksgiving. Traditionally, that is one of the worst games of the season, with players looking ahead to turkey and struggling to find that fire. But not these Wildcats. They played like they were eating Cleveland State’s souls for Thanksgiving, which they kind of did. Love the attitude of this team.

It’s Louisville week and Bobby Petrino won’t let his players or coaches say ‘Kentucky’.

According to Lyndsey Gough over at cn2 Sports, the Cards aren’t saying ‘Kentucky’ this week, although we wouldn’t know because we’re banned from interviewing UofL players and coaches.

Lyndsey has a clip from Tuesday’s practice:

Mark Stoops seemed pretty angry yesterday.

I wasn’t at Kentucky’s Wednesday practice, but reports say Stoops was a little pissed with his team’s focus in the final week of the regular season.

“Not real pleased,” he said. “I don’t really want to get into it, just not real pleased with our focus today.”

Stoops said his disappointment was mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Sadly, that’s the group that should be working the hardest this week with Lamar ahead.

Drew’s Thanksgiving NFL Picks:

I was on an unprecedented hot streak up until this week; now I am hemorrhaging money with a tough half-point loss in the Cats’ game yesterday to prove it. So read this with caution, and possibly fade the picks:

Detroit Lions (-3) vs. Minnesota Vikings (+3): I have no idea. Not even going to pretend. Flip a coin and pick one or the other.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins (Over 51.5): I like Dallas to win but I’m not convinced the Redskins won’t make it a game. I do think both teams will score, so take the over, if you can still get it that low.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-9) vs. Indianapolis Colts: The Colts will start Scott Tolzien at QB and I’ve never heard of that person, if we’re being completely honest with each other. Pittsburgh will win and should do it by two possessions.

Gambling is bad for you. Don’t do it.

KSR Notes:

— No show today. Matt, Ryan and Shannon took the holiday off. (And Shannon probably earned two new vacation days for it.)

— Tomorrow’s show will be a ‘Best Of’ show, then we’ll be back on the airwaves at 4:30 pm on Friday for the pregame show.

Tyler has a fun Thanksgiving video coming for you later today….

Plus we’ll pop on here occasionally, when we’re not eating, to post more. No days off.

Bobby is only having them say “that other team” and “them” becaue he knows it’s not okay for them to say slapdicks in media interviews.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all you cayuts fans!

U of L is only a pretender to the realm of football legend. Everybody knows that it is the tradition at Ohio State that they don’t mention the name of their biggest rival, Michigan…they call them that team up north.
This tradition goes back to Woody Hayes, and it has continued this year under Meyer.
      Not very original, copy cats.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Slapdicks.
Also, Louisville hasn’t allowed opposing media to interview players or coaches all season. In fact I believe its been a few years so please don’t flatter yourself.

The only people trying to ‘flatter’ themselves here is the d*ickpullers that come from their own schools site to post here. Soooo little brotherish! Go figure.
And a Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
