Has Bolden changed his mind yet?

Really bummed about Mathews. Could see him developing into a key player here by the time he’s eligible to play somewhere else. If we get Bolden tomorrow, that’s kind of tainted for me. If we get to another final four, I’ll probably get over it though.

Sometimes I wish Cal would talk his players into staying extra years like Kzyskewski and Pitino, even when it is not in their best interest. That is the selfish side of fandom speaking, but I can’t help it.

Hope Briscoe decides to stay, and we get Bolden. Otherwise, I think we are going to have major growing pains early on.

Now knowing that Matthews is transferring… This looks like a pretty good setup to me:

    PG) Fox, Hawkins
    SG) Briscoe, Monk
    SF) Gabriel, Killeya-Jones
    PF) Adebayo, Willis
    C) Bolden, Lee

    Reserves) Mulder, Humphries, Wynyard
Walk Ons) Floreal, Pulliam, David, Calipari

I see Willis as perhaps filling more of a 3-4 hybrid role.

Hope your prediction for center proves true.

I see the PF and SF rotating around because we have a lot of versatility in those players. Esp with Cal’s position-less moto he’s being running with the last couple years. Adebayo would be predominantly a 4 and maybe a 5 if we go small ball (although he could be more of a 5 if we do not get bolden – and yes, this was more wishful thinking, i don’t know any more than anyone else. Only that TODAY we have actual confirmation that no matter what happens we will have enough room on the roster if bolden decides to come to uk and before today we have not.

Cal didn’t talk Matthews into reclassifying to get him a year early.

      no

    Poole, Kyle, Harrrow, and Matthews

    • ukjaybrat

Poole wasn’t recruited by Calipari. so that can be thrown out. and Wiltjer and Matthews both wanted to be a different player than they were being groomed to be. Harrow, imo, is the only player that was probably shown the door since cal got here.

Yes, Poole was a Calipari recruit.

i’ll be damned. i thought he was a year earlier. my mistake

I was just listing transfers, no matter the reason, as they left off a couple when they were mentioning transfers.

A year earlier would have been the Wall and Cousin’s class.

    • ukjaybrat
      11:05 am May 18, 2016 Permalink

yes, but i remember him being the first commit. jon hood was also in that class and he was recruited by gillespie.

    • Larry Pratt

Poole was his first commitment of his second class. Yes, Hood and Orton were the only Gillispie recruits that Cal kept.

      Patterson was a Gillispie recruit

Recruits…not players. Yes, and he also kept Liggins. They were not recruits in 2009.

Sucks that Matthews is transferring. I felt like he has a lot of potential, and I was looking forward to watching him develop. However, I can understand the lure of more playing time.

The guy that walked in a grand slam last night in the Reds game was Steve Delaber. He’s from
Ft Knox and went to Central Hardin. He was a coach there while rehabbing his arm before making it back to the big leagues. Hopefully they don’t send him down to Louisville.

  9. I haven’t been able to listen as much this week. Has the women’s team lost any more players/coaches? I’m usually mild in any criticisms here, but this is nothing short of a dumpster fire.

That said, come on down Bolden!

    • Realme
      11:45 am May 18, 2016 Permalink

They lost their last commitment, so I think no incoming players at all right now, and just 6 returners on the team for this coming season.

    • ukjaybrat
      11:50 am May 18, 2016 Permalink

wouldn’t be surprised if they hold some kind of walk-on camp or something in the fall to get fresh bodies to practice against

I still hope the new/returning staff can work some magic and get someone back on board this summer. The one who decommitted this week, her mother said something like “We just don’t know what’s going on with the program”. To me that sounds like, “everyone else left so we did too, but we don’t have a problem with anything”.

… so if one player has the courage to be first, others could follow.

Gorgui seems like a nice dude and all, but he is not an NBA superstar like Towns. U of L fans need to get over themselves. No one is going to T-Wolves games to see Gorgui. Towns puts behinds in the seats.

    • Realme
      11:56 am May 18, 2016 Permalink

      Exactly.

    • And if Louisville were to ever get an NBA team, the NBA would want as many of Cal’s players on that team as possible.

    • ukjaybrat
      12:03 pm May 18, 2016 Permalink

i can only think of 3 louisville players in the nba. not only are none of them star status, they are all backups.

  11. Yeah, I actually saw that last de-commit post/article. I was mostly just making a lame veiled reference to the old “They just scored again” a week later joke when one team pounds another.
