Why is correct. ‘Bama and UK on ESPN primetime? ESPN must just love to watch train wrecks.

They just love to present out team being fed to the lions on Roman TV.

But when we have a really good basketball team, would they ever give us a slot like that so we could watch our Cats disembowel a hapless opponent in prime time national TV? Hell no! Double standard.

      10:12 am September 20, 2016 Permalink

My first thought was that there probably wasn’t any good games in that slot for espn to air so just air Bama and be done with it. But arkansas/texas a&m are both ranked. that will be a much better game nationally.

I wonder If each team has a stipulation that they get a primetime slot at least once per season… without seeing the contract there’s really no telling.

Yeah, I would like to have equal time, so broadcast the UK / ‘Bama BASKETBALL game on ESPN prime-time for our revenge. Of course, no one in the state of Alabama will watch it or give a damn. That is the sad reality of the SEC.

Even if you flip QB’s, Louisville still has a veteran head coach who actually knows what he is doing. Now I’m not one of the “should have hired Petrino” people, but we would still need a more organized and experienced coaching staff to win a lot more games. The QB is not our biggest problem – it is the defense!

This is the worst defense I have seen in 23 years of living in KY.

So Jackson was a 4-star QB, and I think Bridgewater was rated around there. Both were highly recruited by big name programs. But UK has also had a bunch of 4-star QB’s in the past 10 years. Barker, Towles, Newton, Moss – there were probably others that I forgot. Why have NONE of these developed into a really good QB? Coaching?

    • ukjaybrat
      10:49 am September 20, 2016 Permalink

to be fair, jackson being as good as he is should not be attributed to just development at louisville. He was probably just under-recruited and under-evaluated. Or all of Louisville’s quarterbacks would have shown this type of improvement. But aside from Bridgewater, the rest of Louisville’s quarterbacks under petrino of late have been their weakest link

wasn’t Bridgewater Strong’s guy, not Petrino’s? I think Bobby was still riding on motorcycles with his mistress back then.

well i think he’s overrated in the sense that some people have come out and said he’s the best football player EVER. give me a break. he’s played in three games as a starter this season and 2 of them were REALLY bad teams. maybe Florida State was just REALLY overrated and Jackson is just pretty good. We won’t really know until the season is over.

i think hes great but i dont think in 20 years he will be remembered as one of the best of all time based on just what i’ve seen… 3 games just isnt enough. show me more, prove me wrong (actually please don’t lol)

The really freaky thing about the 2-headed calf is that when it eats, the other mouth moves along in unison.

I know the family who owns the 2-headed calf. Good people. Not really sure why it only has 1 name though. I would have named both heads as separate entities.

It will be interesting to see if Bobby is able to keep his behavior in line once the hubris of winning settles in. Pride comes before a fall, and we all know that Bobby has plenty of that.

Hopefully our offense will score on them too, to at least make a game of it.

    • RealCatsFan
      11:04 am September 20, 2016 Permalink

J-Dub, a high scoring shootout would be entertaining at least. Alas, I don’t think we have the offensive firepower to keep up with them offensively, unless Johnson turns out to be our Jackson, and that is highly unlikely. Louisville also has a much better defense than ours. Sucks!

Regarding UK Football: Is it bad coaching, or are the players not executing? Some of both?

    • RealCatsFan
      11:22 am September 20, 2016 Permalink

Some of both, but IMO most of the blame falls on the coaching. True, a coach can’t make the plays on the field for the players, but a good coach knows how to put a player in the best position to succeed, and a really good coach knows the psychological tricks to maximize a player’s performance.

    • J-Dub421
      11:38 am September 20, 2016 Permalink

I think it’s some of both. I have been on both sides, athlete and coach (not in football obviously). There are definitely bad coaches who are poor communicators and poor motivators. However, there are also players who think they know everything and don’t listen, or listen to their parents instead of the coaches, or who just aren’t willing to put in the work and constantly goof off at practice. It’s hard to determine which is more to blame in this situation.

j-dub, I am in the thick of it right now coaching girls’ volleyball. Although a different world than men’s college football, some of the same dynamics apply. I get to deal with parents wanting more playing time for their prima donna daughter who thinks she will be playing division-1 college VB in a few years, when she has the coordination of a broomstick. It’s like herding cats sometimes.

what? you don’t like that old hag from genesis diamonds telling you you’re a scumbag for not buying your fiance an overpriced Dcourier or Verragio ring because everything else is “cookie-cutter” or “knock-off”

jay, fortunately for me, my wife doesn’t really care much about jewelry. I would have never married someone as superficial as that. Now shoes are a different matter – I may have to add onto the house for her collection of shoes!

And what was this BS about the guideline for an engagement ring should be a month’s pay? Seriously? I guess I’m a cheapskate. Dave Ramsey would have a coronary over that!

Clowns are creepy. There’s a reason Stephen King used one as his psycho murderer in IT.

    • Don’t forget the classic movie “Killer Clowns from Outer Space”! Hah! Actually it was supposedly as bad as the title suggests, but I remember coming across it on HBO or something years ago. 3 seconds of seeing one of those clowns was more than enough and I changed the channel. I’m not into horror much anyway.

Thing is, that movie was so bad it got sort of well known, kind of like a bad cult classic.
