Sunday Morning Wake Up

Lee_Marcus_2015-16 MBB

The Sunday morning wake up is brought to you today by Marcus Lee. Why? Because he had yet another quiet good game yesterday against Louisville. As Alex Poythress, Tyler Ulis and Dom are grabbing the headlines (rightfully so) I want to make sure Lee gets his respect. The fact he never picked up that fifth foul while still playing great defense and grabbing rebounds was a major factor in Kentucky getting the win yesterday.

God, it feels good to beat Louisville again. On to Sunday:

NFL Cats

It’s crazy we’re already in week 16 of the NFL season, but here we are. We have some former Cats in big games this week so make sure to check them out. The big games on the schedule are:

Carolina at Atlanta (Jacob Tamme) – 1:00, FOX

Pittsburgh (Bud Dupree) at Baltimore (Chris Matthews, Za’Darius Smith) – 1:00, CBS

Houston at Tennessee (Wesley Woodyard, Avery Williamson) – 1:00, CBS

Green Bay (Tim Masthay, Randall Cobb) at Arizona – 4:25, FOX

Kentucky’s West Coast Team in Action

It’s a slow day for teams on campus as there’s nothing on the schedule, but Drew’s favorite team is in action tonight. The Sacramento Kings with Boogie, Rondo and an injured Willie are playing tonight at 9 against Portland. Since we’re talking the NBA, of course there are more former Kentucky guys in action as Julius Randle takes on Tayshaun Prince while James Young and Enes Kanter are also playing today.

Too Great Not to Watch Again

Alex Poythress has caught a good amount of heat during his 3+ years so far in Lexington. The McDonald’s All-American came into college with a ton of fan fare and many expected him to be a one-and-done star. Obviously it hasn’t been that way and while his play has been inconsistent, he’s been extremely valuable to his teams. He’s also become one of the most fun players to watch because he’s a walking highlight. Let’s all watch this on loop and have a Sunday.

The effort was there the entire game. If the brains kick in with Murray – Tyler is the best point guard in the country and Murray should relax and enjoy the benefits of that – long way they can go. It would have been a twenty point win if he didn’t lose his mind. I don’t know why he thought he had to take over the game when UK was up sixteen.

Great block and the guy gets Poythress in the face with his forearm and Pat Adams stands there with his whistle up his butt like he did the whole game on our end of the court.

Marcus Lee is everything we wanted Skal to be. Love this guy and lets keep Skal on the bench and let him see how to play the game since he seems to have no clue.

I love that logic our fans have: “I watch football on the TV, therefore I’m a better coach than Stoops. Let Skal just watch and he’ll improve.”

The only way you get experience, is by playing.

Ask a soldier who has experienced battle versus a recruit who just gotten out of boot camp.

Skal is a boy who should never be where he is and would have been better off going to a junior college before trying to play here. Please check the scouting report out Big and learn something.

Thank you for bringing to attention the respect that Marcus Lee deserves. As you mentioned it was another solid, quiet, yet good performance by Marcus Lee!! He is our rock, our unsung hero while the others all played well especially Ulis, Poythress, and Dom, Marcus Lee just keeps having good solid performances!! We especially love Marcus Lee and Ulis as they are both a solid foundation for this team.

I love Briscoe’s reaction to block. Plus, I hope Skal goes off and shuts everyone up. You can see the potential, he just has to how some toughness.
