Stephen Zimmerman says Skal Labissiere is recruiting him

@VegasBballMomVia 247 Sports

Kentucky’s chances with five-star center Stephen Zimmerman don’t look great right now. Jerry Meyer’s sources say Zimmerman will commit to UNLV any day now, and yesterday, he canceled all of his scheduled in-home visits.

That means Kentucky’s best shot to recruit him lies on the shoulders of their three signees at this weekend’s Jordan Brand Classic. Apparently, Skal Labissiere is already giving it his best shot. According to Adam Zagoria, Zimmerman says Skal Labissiere is trying to get him to come to Kentucky. In fact, Skal told Zagoria that he’s also recruiting Jaylen Brown and Malik Newman. Keep it up, Skal.

Meanwhile, Jeff Borzello is reporting that combo guard Dazon Ingram still doesn’t have an offer from Kentucky and plans on announcing his decision on Friday. Borzello also reports Malik Newman, Kentucky’s primary target at combo guard, doesn’t plan on signing a letter of intent, just scholarship papers, which means his recruitment could go on even longer. Oh boy.

    Not sure I’d feel too great about a kid if he’s not willing to sign an LOI, Gives him a chance to back out but keep his scholarship through the process.

      Top recruites have no reason to sign a LOI. It only keeps other colleges from contacting you. If the coach at the school you signed with leaves, you’re screwed. No benefit to the player at all, other than to guarantee a scholly. If you’re a top 20 or so player you already have that without signing your life away. BTW, we have had several players in the Calipari era that didn’t sign a LOI.

      While I agree with your points Clutch the only player that I can think of during the Calipari era who did not sign an LOI was Brandon Knight. Briscoe originally stated he was going to do that but ended up signing his LOI the next day. Out of curiosity, who are the other players during the Calapari era who did not sign an LOI?

      Just off the top of my head, John Wall comes to mind. He showed up just in time to sign scholarship papers and register for class.

      Nope. Wall signed a Letter of Intent on May 20, 2009, the last day for signing an LOI that year..

      Anyone else?

    Thank you for some recruiting info. Not trying to be negative but I only want recruiting info until this class unfolds. Then we can take trips down memory lane with this years squad

    I appreciate Skal’s effort, but all of these uncommitted guys already know where they are going. They are just waiting for the opportune time to announce.

    Can’t help wondering if some of these kids are buying into the “Cal to the NBA” crap…
    Some of these rival coaches play dirty!

      Almost all of the rival coaches play dirty. Multiple recruits have said that the only two programs who don’t trash UK and Coach Cal are Kansas and Florida.

    Someone please tell me why Jammal Murray does not have a offer? He might be better than Newman and UK is just leaving him out there for another program to get. I say we offer him and throw the kitchen sink at him in order to get him to come to UK, especially if Newman keeps playing around.
