University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Steph Curry’s Tuesday Morning Wakeup

I have a pretty real obsession with Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, and last night’s game only added fuel to that fire.

In case you missed it, Curry returned from injury to a pretty average first three quarters of basketball with a disappointing clip from outside, by his standards. Then, after his team chipped away at a double-digit deficit, Curry happened in the fourth quarter and overtime.

The now two-time MVP scored 27 of his 40 in that span, with a record 17 coming in the five-minute OT. It was the most points by anyone in an overtime period, playoffs or regular season. He missed only one of his seven shots in the extra time.

“I’m here. I’m back,” he told the Portland crowd.

All of that after watching the Preds (I’m trying this hockey thing) force a Game 7 in overtime? Needless to say I’m running a little low on sleep today.

Could the football home opener move to Thursday night?

A Monday afternoon report out of Mississippi suggested Kentucky’s home football opener against Southern Miss could move from Saturday to Thursday night. UK quickly denied the report, but Dave Baker says it is indeed a possibility. Baker tweeted, “Can tell you UK has not made final decision on Thursday night game to open the season but that is an option and there is interest– stay tuned!”

Fans seem to be pretty split over the potential weeknight game. Me, I’m all for it. More exposure for the program and, selfishly, a lazy Saturday on the couch for the first Saturday of the college football season.

Kentucky to play Hofstra in the Barclays Center.

A game originally scheduled for Nassau Coliseum as the first sporting event in the renovated facility has been moved to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the second leg of a doubleheader. The game is set for December 11 and will open with St. John’s versus LIU-Brooklyn.

Matthew Mitchell lost another one.

This time, Bullitt East point guard Lindsey Duvall decommitted from UK and reopened her recruitment. A 2017 recruit, Duvall was once a top-10 player in the class. She is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 23 prospect by ESPN.

The latest on Marques Bolden:

We have nothing to add to the Marques Bolden situation at this time.

Kash Daniel seems to really enjoy Waffle House.

Jamie McCracken of WYMT shared some old footage of a sophomore Kash Daniel hitting a game-winning home run for Paintsville:

“The Most Exciting 2 Minutes…”

That’s being very generous.

Big day today. I can feel it.

(And thank you to FirstWatch on Broadway for breakfast this morning.)

How is Matt Mitchell not gone yet? Embarassing, especially when theres not much to talk about in the UK world.

Don’t care for Golden State or Curry. Golden State does however deserve this since it’s been a long time coming.

At this point it might be wise for the AD to ask the question: Would UK women’s basketball be better off in the future if they cut ties with Mitchell now and just started over? It is starting to sound like there is something stinky and festering at the heart of all of this, and the program’s reputation may be irreparably damaged.

Question…why on earth would a high-quality in-state player choose to go elsewhere? I can get losing a recruit during time who is an outsider. But a local gal who could easily come in and play solid minutes on a team that desperately needs her. What gives with MM? Is this Billy Clyde 2.0? Either he slept with one of the players/ex-coaches, or he is the biggest tool in Lexington. Nothing else would cause this.

  7. Don’t you love how Kash said “With a Sprot”? I miss Kentucky!

Really disappointing to see hoops going so far south when he’s been such a great face for the program. I have only followed this story very loosely and can clearly see the magnitude of the issues must be astronomical considering the loss of his coaching staff, past and future players leaving/decommitting from the program and questioning the program’s chance to rebuild in foreseeable future. There might need to be some clarification on what is going on– is it Mitchell being a tyrant, are NCAA sanctions looming, or something internal that needs to be publicly addressed? This team is going to need major fan support but with so many questions surrounding the program, I don’t think they will get it without a little transparency….. At this point, potential players are going to have A LOT of questions and doubt about coming to UK– even JUCO transfers and sub-par players should be questioning it.

When will it end? Oh, I think we all know when it will end. he real question is, when will Barnhart’s testicles grow in to the point where he fires this loser??

You do realize that “this loser” has had UK Hoops in an upward trend the past few years? I don’t have the answer either, and Coach Mitchell may be at the heart of the issues, but if this were pre-Mitchell, it wouldn’t be a topic to discuss since they were bottom tier.
