We are a couple of first downs, maybe just one, from being 5-0.

Do you guys ever find yourself hoping our recruits and commitments aren’t watching our actual games? Seeing how they do and don’t use their players’ talents, and how they go uber conservative as much as possible, and how many embarrassing mistakes happen can’t be that appealing.

Yeppers. And to see what Neal Brown was doing with much less talent against LSU at their place makes me wish we could switch coaches with them. Someone is going to snap him up in the next couple years. Wish it would be us.

It was amazing to me that their punter was allowed to kick low line-drive punts…you have to go after those…and finally, finally we did.
Also, if you’re going to let them land and roll down to our own 5 yd line…o.k. it’s first down; just kick it back to them…I’m only half kidding here.

have a friend still defending conservative play and saturday night was his evidence that it “worked” because eastern michigan is a good team and we beat them. Dude florida is a “good team” and we lost to them bc of conservative play.

he claims that we weren’t conservative it was our offensive line that allowed three sacks. even though the box score completely blows his evidence out of the water. after interception nothing on 1st/2nd down but running plays for two drives. then when it was almost too late, only then did they let SJ start throwing again.

i love him to death, but he is blind to the conservative play calling. When will they decide it is NOT working in the games we need to win to take the next step for this program. it’s great we can win in the fourth quarter against so miss and so carolina and eastern michigan and eastern kentucky…. WE SHOULD BE BEATING THOSE TEAMS no matter what strategy we use.
we will never beat the florida, georgia, auburn or tennessee teams as long as we keep shooting ourselves in the foot and taking the ball away from our best players.

Brown left here supposedly because he and Stoops styles aren’t compatible. Maybe Brown didn’t want to be boring and never win by anything but the minimum amount of points.

Also, our offense is going to get Johnson killed in the second half of the season if nothing changes.

I was thinking the other day what an offensive mind like Mumme would have done with some of the talent we have assembled. I know he had Couch and Lorenzen at his disposal, but he never had the level of talent on defense and the offensive line that we have right now. Might have been fun to watch.

There is no answer. They guy had 10 rifles, and listening to the live videos, it was fully automatic fire; sounded like Vietnam.
While these weapons are banned, it is a simple thing to convert AR-15 and M-16 style semi-auto rifles to full-auto. Hell, how to videos are probably on-line.

Yep, unfortunately that genie is already out of the bottle. My outrage at all of this makes me think that laws should be passed making it a felony to possess or modify a gun in this way (it may already be, have not researched it). But in the end, how do you enforce such a law, and there is little hope that it would stop a madman like this. Sadly, America’s obsession with violence (both in films and TV and the media’s coverage of such) may be the chickens coming home to roost. Kind of makes me think twice about going to venues where there are big crowds, but then we are playing into the hands of the terrorists (admittedly, this guy may just be a deranged lone wolf).

    • Realme
      10:31 am October 2, 2017 Permalink

If you fix the gun problem (fine with me), they’re just going to use bombs, vehicles, knives, poison, acid. There’s still a mental illness / hatred / violence problem. We’ve seen how much damage can be done with a truck and a crowd.

    • Busy today, but prayers up for all those affected by the shooting. No words to describe how awful that is.

    • Sentient Third Eye
      3:41 pm October 2, 2017 Permalink

The common denominator in mass shootings seems to be one of two things: Islam and psychiatric medication. This guy apparently was not Islamic, so I fully expect it to come out in a few days that he either recently began psychiatric treatment or recently got off his meds. It’s usually either coming off or going on them that causes shooters to go bananas.

The idea that they would hire an interim coach that had the one of the main dudes from the FBI investigation as an agent, and that there’s a movement to keep Jurich shows Louisville doesn’t really want to change. Write this coming season off, and use the time to really clean up the corruption.

they are all “scandal-fatigued” but no one is willing to do what it takes to get over the hump. what’s going to happen if they keep jurich and 2 years later something ELSE happens. theyre going to be punished again even more severe than the last two times. and everyone will say, keep jurich we’re going to need him to get out of this even bigger hole we find ourselves in.

you don’t need a shovel to get out of a hole, you need a ladder. jurich is not your ladder.

No new coach with integrity would take that job under Jurich. Keep him as many of those idiots want, and your next coach is going to be that same type of person.

      10:55 am October 2, 2017 Permalink

maybe. but i dont think “a desire to change” should have any impact on the severity of the punishment. louisville pretty much spit in the face of the ncaa by cheating months after the last scandal. if they aren’t punished *severely* the ncaa will have wide spread corruption and cheating starting immediately because no one will be afraid of them ever again. louisville got off pretty easily from hooker gate and if they can come through this without getting slammed, ncaa=no teeth.

It was refreshing to see Troy continue to try to score in the 4thQ; yeah they fumbled on the 6 yd line; but, if they had taken it in…the game would have been over.
And they couldn’t move the chains, and let LSU have a last minute drive; but, Troy was trying to move the ball. Troy would have destroyed EMU, EKU, and Southern Miss.

      1) bc apparently the guys that were sent to jail technically did not break any ncaa rules. they took bribes from adidas but did not pay the players. as long as the player doesn’t get paid, ncaa is happy… i guess

Railbird, I don’t think J-Dub was purposely trying to pick on the folks in Florida out of meanness or trying to put Floridians down in general. I think the “they won’t notice” part is saying that the normal folks down there won’t notice because of all the other craziness going on. It was meant to be a joke, not a put-down. I hear jokes all the time about Kentuckians, not having teeth, dating our sisters, etc. For the most part I play along with the joke because I am secure in my own skin so I don’t take it personally. Negatives: conservative play calling is killing our offense. We need to throw more. Sj has been great, and were have too many weapons at wide receiver and tight end to keep wasting them like this.
