South Carolina expected to hire Shane Beamer

That didn’t take long. Minutes after Kentucky’s 41-18 win over South Carolina, word broke that the Gamecocks have a new coach. According to Bruce Feldman, Oklahoma assistant coach Shane Beamer is expected to be named South Carolina’s new head coach. Frank Beamer’s boy will replace Will Muschamp, who was fired a few weeks back.
Prior to joining Lincoln Riley’s staff at Oklahoma, Beamer worked under Kirby Smart at Georgia, his father at Virginia Tech, and Steve Spurrier at South Carolina. During his time in Columbia (2007-10), he served as an assistant and recruiting coordinator. Other candidates for the South Carolina job included Louisiana’s Billy Napier and Louisville’s Scott Satterfield, who removed his name from consideration today.
Welcome to the league, Shane.
