Benny Snell’s namesake spent Thursday afternoon in the winner’s circle.
Snell Yeah broke its maiden in the sixth race at Indiana Grand, claiming its first victory in four starts. Trained by Mark Casse, Snell Yeah was the 6/5 favorite in the 5.5 furlong sprint. Trailing by a handful of lengths and four wide entering the turn, Snell Yeah turned on the jets to take the lead before holding off Dodger to win by a length. A $2 win bet paid $4.40.
The race was Snell Yeah’s first start of the 2020 season. The three-year-old sprinter had not raced since June of 2019. In addition to the trip to the winner’s circle, Snell Yeah’s connections brought in $18,600 in earnings. No word on if the Kentucky running back receives a cut of that purse.
