Shaun Kirk signs with NC State

So much for that option? According to, three-star forward Shaun Kirk has signed with NC State. Kirk committed to NC State on Monday, but got a call from Kentucky that evening with a scholarship offer. After thinking things over, he decided to go ahead and stay with the Wolfpack.

What does this mean for Kentucky? A source tells KSR that UK’s chances with five-star small forward Jaylen Brown are better than people think and it’s down to Michigan or UK. There’s still no timetable for his decision, but he would fill Kentucky’s biggest need right now.

So, we wait…

No shame in honoring a commitment you already made. I can respect that.

I really thought we would get Diallo and wouldn’t get Brown. That might go the other way. Although I think Diallo is a better player, Brown is certainly a more needed position, and still pretty incredible. If we get Brown… AND Murray… we’ll be sitting pretty next year. Sigh… April and May are all about the if’s for us UK fans. No matter what, it’ll be interesting!

He made an oral agreement then kept his word. He gets my respect and understanding for doing so.

This kid gets my respect, he made a commitment and stuck to it. Plus let’s be honest, he would have been a glorified practice player here and would not have seen much playing time, and he knew that and made the best choice for him.

Michigan recruited 1 five star in 2013 class, 0 five stars in 2014, and so far 0 five stars in 2015. They were awful last year and even with Jaylen they will struggle. They are thin at multiple positions. There is no way this kid goes to Michigan. I don’t know what he is thinking but if it is between UK and Michigan; winner – winner – chicken dinner.
