Shareef O’Neal commits to UCLA

Well, that didn’t take long. Only three days after decommitting from Arizona, Shareef O’Neal has committed to UCLA.

Shaquille O’Neal’s son finally broke ties with Arizona following ESPN’s report over the weekend alleging that Sean Miller discussed a $100,000 payment for DeAndre Ayton (a story that’s gotten shakier and shakier in recent days). When the news first broke, Kentucky’s name popped up as a potential landing spot for the four-star power forward, but clearly, he had a different blue blood in mind.

In other 2018 recruiting news, the buzz surrounding five-star big man EJ Montgomery continues to look good for Kentucky. Should be an interesting spring…

You really think that kid needs money? Probably just wanted to be closer to home. Not everyone needs to be paid off to go somewhere else.

Except Arizona is a Nike school…

This kid wanted to come here, Cal wouldn’t offer. Guarantee Montgomery plays us like a fiddle right up until he commits to Duke and we’re left without a big man. It’s becoming a trend. Watch

You aren’t sold on Montgomery? Have you ever evaluated a college basketball prospect?

I may be wrong here, but UK never even offered him did they?

      Not aware they did, no.

Shareef never received an offer from Kentucky. Leading up to BBM a member of the BBN tweeted asking if he would come to BBM and commit to UK, Shareefs answer was “you can’t commit without an offer”.

“Kentucky has been linked to the talented prospect for months now, specifically following the initial round of FBI news. His father, Shaquille, reportedly loves Kentucky and John Calipari, and respects the school’s ability to get players to the NBA.

With Kentucky needing another forward for next year, it’s very likely the Cats get involved in his recruitment.”

    Thanks again KSR

What I’ve learned over the past couple years is KSR and most Kentucky based resources are very unreliable. Evan Daniels is the most credible source along with Jerry Meyer.

    Anyway actually watch him play??
He just isn’t good enough for UK.
He won’t play at UCLA much either.
Sacha would smoke him in practice, and he barely plays at UK.

I said when it first came out; why would he leave one school under investigation for another? But, because no UK fan wants to hear the truth, EVER, I was scolded for it. Take the blue-tinted shades off every once in awhile. Kentucky is one of the most aggregious offenders in this unproven report.

FYI, Kentucky (nor any other school)is under investigation. The information in the FBI report is about players whi may or may not have either received money or had meals provided by a runner for a dports agent. FBI doesn’t give a shit about NCAA rules. What the NCAA does w the info would only affect player eligibility. No school in this new report is identified as being complicit in payments. Miller is a separate report (again named as an individual). NO SCHOOL including Arizona is under investigation. In the future read more than the headline, it can actually make you better informed
