To quote Zoolander; Derek Willis, so hot right now. Derek Willis.
When people aren’t discussing whether or not Tyler Ulis is a top-5 point guard in the country everyone is talking about the junior forward and his rise to the starting lineup for Kentucky. Today, it’s SI.com’s Seth Davis, who took a paragraph to talk about how Willis still made his presence known during the Vanderbilt game despite struggling from the field.
For Kentucky fans there’s always something special about a kid from the Commonwealth, making a name for himself with the Wildcats. That’s exactly what Willis is doing as he’s provided a different look for the starting five. Playing him and Poythress together has allowed Alex to work in the paint more freely, while also opening up driving lanes for Isaiah Briscoe and Tyler Ulis.
If Willis can continue to rebound as well as he has the last couple of games, this could be the new version of ‘the tweak’ everyone talks about.
