Scoop Lemond hints at good news on Wandale Robinson

When Scoop Lemond talks, we listen. This morning on Kentucky Sports Radio, Ryan Lemond hinted that Kentucky’s chances with Wandale Robinson are much better than we all thought.

The four-star all-purpose back from Frankfort won’t take an official visit to Kentucky, but Derek Terry reported this morning that he will be on Kentucky’s campus for an unofficial visit this weekend. According to Scoop, that’s a pretty common occurrence and the Cats are in a “very, VERY” good spot with the in-state star. Hmm.

Through five games this season, Robinson has 1,522 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns for Western Hills. He’s already taken official visits to Purdue, Michigan, Nebraska, and Alabama. He’ll go to Ohio State next weekend. Even more reason to beat South Carolina and have Kroger Field rocking, right?

This popped up on my news feed, thought you guys might like a perspective from a team site that knows good football when they see it:

No surprise Benny is on the list, but TWO Cayts made the top 5 best players Georgia has left to face – Josh Allen comes in at #5. Georgia still has to play Kentucky, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, GA Tech, and UMass.

Love the respect for Snell from the line: “Oh and it’s best to not say anything at all to the junior running back because he will absolutely own you on Twitter.”

This is a honest question I have and wondered if anyone could answer this for me. I was looking at the recruiting targets on 247 site and I noticed that we have some 4* guys we after but no 5*’s. Why do we not go after them guys? Is it because it’s presumed we can’t get them? And if we are trying to get them why are they not listed. It’s just something I noticed and was wondering. Can anyone answer that for me

Most of those guys are going to one of the 6 schools who have a chance to make the playoff in a given year. Also, don’t put too much stock in the 247 ratings, they have a hard time comparing football players because there’s such a small sample size of games and a massive number of players, and it’s difficult to know whether the players they’re going up against are any good or not. For example – Randall Cobb and Benny Snell were 3* players, Josh Allen was barely a 2*, and Matt Elam was a 4 or 5* depending on who you asked at the time.

If anything, what we’ve seen from this staff is they have an impressive ability to identify talent regardless of what the recruiting services say. At this point we very few reasons not to trust their judgment.

Ignore stars when it comes to football recruiting, it is very different from basketball.

Scoop is way off. Robinson has already said that Nebraska is leading his recruiting process and it’s not that close. He is completely bought into Coach Frost and his system and likes the idea of running the ball for the Cornhuskers. Hate to tell you but Lemond is as clueless off the radio as he is on it. We’re not even in the top 3.
