– In case you missed it, the good people at the SEC football media days picked Kentucky to finish sixth in the SEC East. However, Rick Bozich doesn’t think that will happen. He predicts that the Cats will beat Vandy, Mississippi State, and Florida. UK hopes to upset the Gators for the second year in a row.
– Does Kentucky still want Thon Maker? The situation is unclear. Neither Calipari or John Robic watched him play this Thursday or Friday, but the Sudanese big man still has good things to say about the program. Maker is contemplating going pro next year — so the holdout makes a bit of sense.
– New Offensive Coordinator Shannon Dawson hopes to continue the “Air Raid” scheme that Neal Brown kind of ran in the past two seasons. Dawson comes from a West Virginia team whose offense ranked 11th in the nation last year — so hopefully we’ll see some mad gains this fall.
– The Kentucky Women’s track and field team earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association yesterday. The girls (who also killed it on the track season — finishing as the national runner ups in outdoor) earned a cumulative 3.07 GPA. Way to go ladies.
