Rick Pitino thinks there will be no more Punishments from the NCAA

Last night I told you that Rick can’t keep Kentucky’s name out of his mouth.  I buried the lede, and for that I apologize (but not really, because who wants to listen to Pitino talk for 20 minutes?).

Jon Rothstein asked Pitino on his podcast about the basketball program’s NCAA problem.

“Do I expect any more? I don’t make those decisions, but we followed what Chuck Smrt told us the violations would incur. We feel very confident that that’ll be it.”  Searching for sympathy, Pitino added, “It was pretty severe for us.”

UofL said on Thursday that Smrt was still investigating the Louisville hooker scandal, the day after KSR reported the NCAA’s investigation was “essentially complete” and the Notice of Allegations should be released by the end of this week.

Pitino will also be talking with Terry Meiners later today.  Is Rick simply talking about the upcoming season, or trying to get ahead of the NCAA’s release of the Notice of Allegations?

can’t tell if wishful thinking or he already knows the ncaa is going to treat them jsut like the rest of their beloved ACC breathren they hold to a different standard than the rest of the NCAA

No more punishments…..what has the NCAA handed down so far? Only thing I remember is self imposed ban.

I agree with ukjaybrat! If UNC can get away with practically nothing at all, what does UL have to worry about?

On the other hand, UL is a Kentucky school and will probably get hammered mercilessly.

Either way, the NCAA rules committee stinks!

If true, all of their transgressions were totally worth it. Without them, they may not have landed all of the pieces for their 2013 banner.

If the banner doesn’t come down, then blatant recruiting violations don’t matter. UL flat out paid recruits to go there. They didn’t pay in dollars, they used dollars to buy an older form of currency.

exactly… without being punished, just cheat and cheat and cheat until you win a championship. one postseason ban is worth it if they let you keep the championship.. screw it. uk football should just start cheating non stop until they win it all. then tell the ncaa to suck it

I agree with you guys if they don’t get punished then cheat like hell , it doesn’t matter if you get caught. But just because Rick said it doesn’t mean it’s true. North Carolina and Louisville should both lose a Championship.

NC should lose more than that. Since other students were involved they should lose accreditation.

If the NCAA has the power to hammer Penn St. for something not strictly involving athletics, then they can surely do the same to UNC.

If there is one thing we know from past experience, it is that Rick Pitino is only lying when his mouth is open and words are coming out.

That is not true. He has been known to occasionally text or use a pen/pencil as well.

No, you don’t hate the cards. And that google search yields nothing about UK. Try again.
