Rick Pitino likes his salmon well-done and other Rick Pitino facts

It has been a busy week for Rick Pitino — you know, with the two games in two days and Christmas and Saturday’s game with Kentucky just ahead.

But Pitino hasn’t been too busy to write on his blog, and yesterday he took a moment to tell us some of his favorite things in life. He listed his top three in several categories, ranging from favorite foods to movies and things he will never forget.

A few examples:

My favorite foods:

*Salmon (well done)

*Chicken parmigiana

*Pasta with garlic oil (anchovies added)

Three of my favorite coaches:

*Vince Lombardi — The motivational king.

*Joe Paterno — Terrible ending for a man that had more character than just about anyone in the business. Awful what they did with his statue.

*Bill Belichick — Greatness lies in consistency of excellence. And no one is better.

Three favorite games: Tough ones to choose, but here goes…

*Louisville vs Michigan — 2013 Championship

*Kentucky vs Syracuse — 1996 Championship. Not as good of a game, but it was the last one held in an arena (Meadowlands). Ending was just as special.

*Providence over Georgetown — Freedom Hall Sweet 16, revenge for two 30-point losses.

Two thoughts here:

First of all, salmon should never be well-done. I’m so judging Rick for this one. I always knew we’d never get along, ever, and this one officially ends it for me. Enjoy your dried up piece of good seafood. Learn salmon.

And second, how about that Joe Paterno bit? Tactical move there mentioning Paterno’s “terrible ending” to his career. “Awful what they did to his statue.” Sounds like a subtle plea for fans to remember Pitino for more than the way his career will end, with a hooker scandal. It’s like he wrote those two sentences about himself.

You can read more about Rick’s favorites over on his blog.

Drew, never, ever, eat raw meet, even slightly cooked meat so I agree with Rick on that. As to Paterno you are most likely correct. Furthermore, Rick doesn’t get it, because why would he worship at the feet of a guy that facilitated abuse of so many youth for years just so his football team could accumulate wins knowing people can see through his charade. Paterno had character!? none, nada just like Pitino. Even mentioning Paterno reminds us Rick has no moral compass. Like Paterno it is all about Rick youth be damned!

First off, salmon is a fish not meat. Second, I guess you’ve never heard of sushi?

Since the beginning when I found this site before Gillespie was hired and I looked for the actual radio show, I have read comments from old men that believe listening to to 60 years of basketball on the radio makes them a qualified coach and their is no reason why the white kid from Kentucky shouldn’t start. I listened to middle-aged gamers get angry because a “never seen” quarterback should definitely be starting over the coaches judgement because they won on Madden with the catch-up mode off. I came across thousands of barely readable sentences from Louisville fans talking about character and integrity in their programs and anointing Rick Pitino to sainthood. 2thepoint has just won the lifetime achievement for the dumbest and most ignorant comment in the history of anything associated with this site.

It’s just awful what they did to Paterno. I mean, just because he let a bunch of little kids get molested on his watch.

Leave it to Pitino to champion Paterno as the “real victim here”.

Well done salmon… after business hours, on a table, very quickly.
