Richie Farmer sentenced to 27 months in federal prison

richiefarmer

Looks like the Manchester Federal Correctional Institution is about to get a new shooting guard.  This afternoon, former Cat Richie Farmer was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for misusing funds during his time as State Agriculture Commissioner. That’s the maximum sentence.  Farmer must also pay $125,500 in restitution to the state as part of his plea agreement.

He will report to prison on March 18. No word on what happens to all the stolen VCRs and fax machines.

Look for those VCRs and fax machines on ebay. After all, he’s gotta find some way to pay those fines…

I’m glad he didn’t get the reduced 21 months his lawyer wanted. What kind of idiot takes his buddies out to shoot birds from a moving government vehicle?

So let me see if I understand this correctly. If a citizen defrauds the government of tax money, they can spend up to 60 months in prison. Alternately, if a government employee defrauds the government of budgetary funds they can only get 27 months in prison? Seems like government employees get preferential treatment even when they are committing a felony against their own employer.

27 months because of a plea deal. He could have received years and years.

That’s not Spa Prison.. that’s Federal, Pound Me in the Arse Prison.

      Rixter….

Three points on your “I wanna sound macho” comment…

a). You probably have watched far too many PRISON MOVIES and know absolutely NOTHING about serving time in a federal or state prison

b). You are probably a Prison Guard at a Federal or State Prison and want to continue to perpetrate the “in prison everyone gets raped” myths

c). You probably have served time in a federal or state prison and were soliciting others to Pound You in the Arse

So PUH-LESE… give us a little less MACHO crap!

As for Richie Farmer… and the Farmer Family… you are in our prayers, may the next 27 months fly by for all of you, and may Richie Farmer pick himself up and use this experience to become a better person, and success.

Actually he could still end up in Spa prison.

I personally know someone doing Federal time and while their sentence started in a Maximum Security prison in Terre Haute, he is now finishing his sentence in Lexington’s own Blackburn Correctional facility. That place is as close to a resort as you can get in a prison. (That’s the prison where the dude broke out last week only to turn himself back in because it was too cold out).

      C A T S,

Rixter was just referencing the movie “Office Space” with the “pound in the @$$ prison” line. I was actually surprised it took that many comments before someone made that remark. Sad day when we forget the classics.

Mr. C….A….T….S….CATS, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

At this point , I personally think his jersey should come down. This is no different than being a murderer or rapist, convicted ,sentenced.don’t praise him in the rafters….just my opinion

Certainly should be open for discussion. And while we’re at it, let’s take 3 stack’s name down too, because “fan treason” is a crime!

Now that this is over, the conversation of removing his jersey from the rafters needs to take place. Its obvious Farmer wasn’t intelligent enough to actually do the job the voters of the Commonwealth elected him to do but instead used his status as a former UK player to better himself, relatives and friends. He blatantly disregarded state laws and regulations. He ripped off property form the state and not until the case was going to court did he return part of what he stole. If he cared about his family then within the first year of taking office he shouldn’t have had affairs with other woman. To me he’s a large POS that took advantage of his celebrity status to rob an already poor state. His jersey should be removed from the rafters.

In all seriousness – if Richie is going to jail for this, as he should, what was done in the case of Petrino hiring his mistress? Screw all the moral junk, Petrino shouldn’t be able to get a publicly funded job for the rest of his life because of that, in fact he should have had to go to jail or incur heavy fines for that… did anything happen to him in regards to this?

Richie never would have been caught if he never ran for Lt. Gov.

The political culture in this state is what keeps the state poor, not a politician stealing VCRs.

As someone who works as a federal correctional officer. He will probably come in as a low or community custody inmate and be at a camp. And it’s not a bad life for someone who has to spend time in prison. Not like the tv shows at all

The one who stated he wouldn’t have been caught if he never ran for Lt. Gov. doesn’t understand that his inept started way before he became the running mate of Williams. It started back in his home county but escalated once he arrived in Frankfort. In Frankfort there is a political culture that’s been around for decades but elected politicians stealing from the state is not the norm. It’s easy to say well all politicians do it with no proof. If that makes you feel better then fine but it’s but it’s far from the truth. So lets just stick to the facts.
