Richards proud to “follow in the footsteps” of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist played a big role in recruiting Nick Richards, a senior at Kidd-Gilchrist’s former high school, to the University of Kentucky. MKG made several phone calls to Richards throughout his recruitment to encourage him to take his talents to UK to play for John Calipari.
This afternoon, Richards mentioned Kidd-Gilchrist in his opening statement, immediately after announcing his commitment to the Wildcats.
“I am proud to be following in the footsteps of former St. Pat’s standout, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who, was not only a Kentucky Wildcat, but also an NCAA champion,” he said. “I look forward to being a student-athlete at Kentucky.”
Richards said he too hopes to win a title in Lexington.

Is it just me, or is Nick working on a unibrow there? I recall a certain 7-footer that we had a few years ago with one of those who was pretty good. Just sayin’. 🙂
