Rice sends recruiting letter to quarterback’s cat, quarterback commits

These days, college coaches are doing just about anything to get recruits’ attention, from sending bulk mailings, poster puzzles, and even custom portraits to the nation’s top prospects. Rice University just topped all of them. Rice wanted hometown QB JT Granato so badly that they sent a recruiting letter to his cat. Yes. Co-offensive coordinator Billy Lynch sent JT’s feline friend this message:

“As you know we’re trying to convince J.T. Rice is the place for him. I know you’d like to keep him close so he can feed you and change the litter box. Please help us to get him to choose us. Paw me if you have any questions.”

It worked. Granato and his kitty committed to Rice on Thursday. Granato’s father posted the picture above on Twitter with the caption “@JTGranato10 committed to Rice today. Rice closed the deal by sending JT’s cat a recruiting letter. Well done Owls.”

Yes, well done. As someone who posts way too many pictures of her dog on Instagram, I can tell you this strategy would definitely work on me. You listening, Stoops? Four-star wide receiver Alex Ofodile seems pretty close with his cat…

all those sites are blocked at my work and KSR isn’t, so I’m just now hearing of this. Not that I care to have ever heard of it. Just sayin, some of us don’t have time to read every site like you.

Not a cat lover (domesticated cat, that is) but agree with you completely Mrs T. Brilliant move and very creative on the part of Rice.

Try actually reading the story before commenting. You can’t expect both guys to have the same cat.
