Another week, another SEC award for Rhyne Howard.
For the fourth time this season, Kentucky’s sensational sophomore shooting guard has been tabbed SEC Player of the Week. This week she shares the honor with Texas A&M’s Chennedy Carter.
Playing against No. 6 Mississippi State, Howard recorded just her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 26 points, securing 10 rebounds, two steals, two assists and a blocked shot in the Wildcats’ first win over a top ten team since 2017.
In that game she also achieved a new career milestone. Howard surpassed 1,000 career points. She reached that mark in only 57 games, the second-fastest in program history behind only Valerie Still.
Howard and the rest of Matthew Mitchell’s team will return to action Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET against Ole Miss in Oxford. This Sunday at Memorial Coliseum they will host No. 1 South Carolina beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
