Rhyne Howard? Yes, Rhyne Howard…

The Kentucky sophomore guard was tabbed to another All-American list earlier on Wednesday morning. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association has named Howard one of 10 regional finalists and one of 52 overall finalists to their All-American Team. The WBCA selection committee will announce the final 10-member team on April 2.

Howard has been raking in the awards and honors since before the season was canceled just a couple of weeks ago. She’s already claimed the SEC Player of the Year award, joined the All-SEC First Team and All-SEC Defensive Team, has been named to all sorts of All-American Teams, and nominated to even more Player of the Year finalists lists.

In 27 games this past season, Howard was second in the country in scoring at 23.4 points per game. She also led the ‘Cats in rebounding with 6.5 per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from three, and 79.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Man, Mitchell is stealing money from UK. He’s got elite talent, and still isn’t close to competing with the top teams in the sport. We gotta bring some common sense back to this place, maybe making WBB a club sport would be a nice start. Lots of money could be saved and put back into the men’s program.
