Another week, another preseason honor.
Kentucky Women’s Basketball guard Rhyne Howard has been named to the Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List, an award handed out annually to the National Player of the Year. It’s one of several watch lists that the star junior has been tabbed to through the early stages of the preseason.

Last week, it was announced that Howard had been named to the Cheryl Miller Award Preseason Watch List and was also a unanimous choice as an AP Preseason All-American. After earning AP All-American honors a year ago–the first player to do so in program history–many expect her to open the 2020-21 season as the best player in the entire country.
As a sophomore, the Cleveland, TN native ranked second nationally with 23.4 points per game.
Howard is one of 50 players named to the initial Naismith Trophy Watch List, which will be cut down to 30 in February, 10 on March 2, and four semifinalists on March 19 with a winner announced on April 3.
