Rest in peace, Muhammad Ali

One of the greatest athletes and most famous Kentuckians passed away today. We lost the The Greatest. The People’s Champ. The Louisville Lip.

Muhammad Ali died at the age of 74, surrounded by friends and family in a Phoenix-area hospital. As you know, he┬áhad been battling Parkinson’s disease for a long, long time; since he was first diagnosed in the 1980s.

Today he finally lost that fight by way of life’s decision. It was only the sixth loss of his career.

To quote Ali himself: “He was the greatest; he said it even before he knew he was.” There will never be another like him.

Rest in Peace, Champ.

Personal issues aside, a great champion…the best defensive boxer I’ve ever seen. My dad used to say he was a showboat, and “ran” from his opponents; and I would say…”What’s he supposed to do, stick his chin out there and let them hit it?
