It’s been a scorcher folks! This summer has seen some record high temperatures across the country which makes it even harder to want to stop binge watching Game of Thrones and get outside and enjoy nature. But, you’re in luck! Kentucky Sports Radio is here to keep you cool AND informed on all the latest sports news that you absolutely need to know. First up this morning:
John Wall got an insane contract extension from the Wizards
After mulling it over for a few weeks, John Wall officially agreed to an insanely huge extension with the Washington Wizards. Wall will earn $207M through 2023 and to break that down, starting in 2019 he will be making $42.5 million per year. That my friends, is what hard work, Coach Cal and ignoring all of the haters who insist these players need a college degree, can do.
Lynn Bowden is on campus this weekend
The four-star recruit for the Wildcats will be arriving on campus this weekend, Vince Marrow confirmed yesterday. A huge get for the Cats, Bowden is getting a bit of a late start due to catching up on some academics and Marrow has asked that fans be patient with him.
“I think people need to realize he needs to get here and learn the offense,” Marrow said.
At 6’1” and 185 pounds, this running back could be a game changer for UK’s offense this year. I for one can’t wait to find out.
Malik Monk is going on tour
Alright BBN, now is your chance to meet Malik Monk before he’s off to the big leagues! Monk will be going on a Summer 2017 signing tour at three locations across the state. Check out the dates, locations and times above and get ready to meet a UK great!
42 days until football season
So close, yet so far away. In 42 days the Kentucky Wildcats will kickoff in their first game of the season at Southern Mississippi. The game is set for 4:00 p.m on CBSSN so start planning your watch parties and watch the UK vs. Louisville game that you definitely never deleted from your DVR (I’m looking at you, dad). It’s almost football time in the Bluegrass!
Darius Garland has Kentucky in his Top 6
Considered one of the top three points guards in the 2018 Class, Darius Garland has been heavily recruited by some big names. Kentucky, of course, is one of them. Yesterday, he released his top six choices for school in a tweet. The following were featured: Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Duke, Indiana, Kansas and UCLA.
Talk about a bunch of rivals, am I right? Here’s to hoping he chooses wisely and wants to come win a National Championship in the best shade of blue.
Derek Willis signed a deal with the Detroit Pistons
A couple of days ago, former Wildcat Derek Willis signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Pistons. This is huge for not only one of Cal’s most improved players, but a Kentucky native. Congratulations to Derek and good luck to him and Keeley as they take on the city of Detroit!

The Kentucky Football team is holding their annual Women’s Clinic today at Kroger Field today. Maggie Davis is there covering the event for KSR and will be back later today for a full recap so stay tuned!
