Good morning, friends, and welcome to the Monday edition of Kentucky Sports Radio. Not even snow or the President’s Day holiday can stop Matt and Ryan from coming into the studio to recap a great weekend for the Kentucky basketball program, which included a monster performance from the Cats in Columbia, Tyler Ulis coaching the team once John Calipari got ejected, and several former Cats ballin’ out at the NBA All-Star festivities. Tune in for that and to hear what it’s like to eat chili alone at Skyline on Couples Night for Valentine’s Day.

Join in on the fun by calling (502) 571-1080.

    Was an awesome weekend.

Great game Saturday, but geez Coach Cal got salty.

I have never seen Cal that mad. If his players had not held him back, he would have ripped Sirmons’ throat out. ๐Ÿ™‚

Carerra trucked Jamal Murray. He was not trying to establish position, he was not going for the ball. No call. Actually they called a foul on us (I think on Willis). That was when Cal lost his mind.

It’s starting to come together ya’ll. Offense and defense climbing in the ratings and team really starting to have chemistry.

If we can zero in on coach faces to read their lips during a tirade, why can we never see what a ref like Sirmons says to make Cal go ballistic? Is it taboo for camera guys to close up a referee’s face?

  9. We should have played “Caption This” with the look on Mulder’s face in this pic, and also the other pic where Dom has his face scrunched up like he just saw something very gross. I can only imagine some of the things you guys would have come up with. ๐Ÿ™‚

Crazy to think we’d get a fairer shake form Shows or Valentine nowadays than Sirmons. And what garbage is it that I even know them so well. Refs should never be the focal point of a game, or be trending during a game for Pet’e sake.

The Andy Griffith Show tells us that there are 2 ways to administer order: 1. the force of your personality, like Andy 2. or pulling out your bullet (or the pea in your whistle) like Barney. Doug Sirmons is Barney

Kara Lawson is great because she is highly knowledgeable, and she professionally dispenses necessary information without trying to be an “entertaining persona”. Many of the old-school color guys have bought into their own hype too often, unfortunately. Now they are self-parodies.

Geez, Matt…the Senate passed a resolution back in 1960 that going forward they would not confirm any Justices during election years. And it was the Democrats who passed it! Yes, it was just a resolution and thus legally nonbinding, but it has been the guiding principle for most of the last half-century (though there have been a few times when it was not obeyed, like when the Democratic Senate confirmed Justice Kennedy in 1988).

Maybe some of those people met at Skyline or had their first “date” together there.

  23. I’ve taken my daughter to the “Daddy/Daughter Date Night” at Chick Fil A. It’s a great time hosted by a great family oriented restaurant.

That said, the Skyline story is hilarious.

Anything a Dad does to recognize his daughter on a holiday is awesome. I have two, ages 5 and 8. A Chick Fil A meal on that day would probably make them happier than a lot of the stuff they did and received this weekend.

If I suggested to my wife though that we share a couples night on February 14th at Skyline, I would be in the garage for weeks.

The Dad / Daughter V-Day dances are awesome. As a dad, you absolutely have to take advantage of these opportunities before they hit the teenage years and it becomes uncool to be seen with your parents. I still have some time left with my younger daughter to do something like that, but can’t picture my older almost-14-year-old wanting to do a father-daughter dance. Don’t get me wrong, we are a very loving family, but all of us were teen-agers once, and at that age anything related to parents becomes uncool.

      4:01 pm February 15, 2016 Permalink

J-Dub421, you may be correct, but I think it was just to save a little face by sirmons, but it doesn’t work. The one he should have called a big X on early in the game was carrera, but he didn’t call it on him. carrera kept going out of his way to hurt a UK player and most of it was right in front of sirmons. He kept watching to see a UK player react to his antics so when Briscoe got some revenge he called the foul on Briscoe. Without carrera doing his thing and his foul shots UK wins by 50.
